TO BE DISPLMEO
AT BIG EXPOSITION
An office fitted entirely with Ore-jron-made
furniture will be one of the
featured displnyi of the second an
nual Lane county wood products show
which will open Thursday for a three
day session at the Kimene armory.
It in pointed out by those in charge
of the wood show that there are a
number of firms manufacturing fur
niture in Oregon and that the Pro
ducts of those firms are comparable
in quality with the best furniture man
ufactured in the United States,
Another interesting feature of the
finished products section of the wood
show will be a map which is being
prepared by Eugene and Lane county
box manufacturers. The map will show
the extent of the industry and will
show all the points to which Lane
made boxes are distributed. There
will also be a number of wood novel
ties on display, one being of a new
use of Juniper wood recently commer
cialized at Bend, showing possibilities
of several other little-used Lane
county woods.
One Important feature of the wood
show this year will be an exhibit of
model farm buildings which will be
arranged by Prof. J. W. Gilmore of
the school of agriculture of Oregon
State college. The display will show
numerous types of attractive fnrm
buildings, all of which can economi
cally be constructed of wood.
Prof. Gilmore will be present at
the wood show with a number of
plans for farm structures of all tvpps.
and he will give free advice to farm
era on building and remodeling. His
presence s made possible through the
courtesy of the school of forestry of
Oregon State college.
The lumber committee of the Eu
gene chamber of commerce, which is
Hponsnrine the show in cooperation
with the Willamette Valley Lumber
men's association, ia composed en
tirely of men who are not engaged
in any phase of the lumber industry
but who are interested in the indus
try as it vitally concerns the welfare
of the city, county, and state as a
whole.
It is the purpose of the committee
to make possible a permanent wood
display following the completion of
the wood show this year, to secure
suitable housing for shch an exhibit,
to actively encourage unexploited and
new uhcb of wood, to promote an in
creased interest in good design in
wood, and to further in every man
ner possible an increased use of wood
locally and its uses in such a man
ner as to be interesting to every
tourist and visitor.

"Father's Ron," which opened Tues
day at the Heilig theater, is one of
the really good pictures which has
come to Kugene this year. The picture
was previewed !ate Monday evening at
the theater, and the little group who
saw it agreed with the three-star
rating given "Father's Son" by Lib
erty magazine.
Leon Janney, clever child actor,
plays the part of the boy, with Irene
Itich as his mother and Lewis Stone
as his stem father who takes all his
pranks for evidences of natural de
pravity. The lad has the brooding
sympathy of his mother, the faithful
ness of his dog and the worship of
Vestibule Pullman Johnson, a colored
lad, but dad's harshness seems to
cancel all the comfort the others
bring. The boy finally decided to run
away and then it is that the father
begins to see the havoc frought by his
attitude towards the lad. No more of
the story need be told except that the
picture from the first is a living,
amusing and tender reproduction of
the Booth Tarkington novel.
The theater is inviting all fathers to
bring their sons free to the show.
Fathers who pay admission may bring
all of their sons, regardless of age.
