She was aken to the local hospital where 'our stitches were necessary. Mrs. Nell Bros of Portland vis ited friends here last week. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Calkins visited relatives in Tacoma recently. Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Gregory .-nd three sons visited relatives at '.Vena tehee. Wash., last week. Mr. and Mrs. Rada and son, Bobby, are living across the street ;rom his parents, Mr. and Mrs. ?'rank Rada. Mr. and Mrs. Russell King and 'laughter. Marian, recently made a 10-day trip to San Francisco to visit his mother and other rela-tives. Clinic Held at Swegle School SWEGLE, Jan. 17 -(Special)-Monday afternoon the clinic for school children and pre-school children was held at the school with Dr. Vf.J. Stone and Nurses Portia Conway and Mrs. Kay Rooksberry in charge. Examinations were given 15 pre-school and 26 school students. Immunizations were given 26 pre school and school children. Only first and second grade students were examined and it will be necessary for the doctor and nurses to continue at some later date. Mrs. George Standley, health chairman of the Swegle PTA had notified each pre-school mother of the clinic. Assisting the nurses were Mrs. Standley, Mrs. Charles Jayne, Mrs. Albert Werner, Mrs. Cecil Frame . and Mrs. Menno Dalke. He was born in Luxembourg, and had reached his late 70's. He ived for many years in a cabin on ;he George W. Miller farm, and worked for him and other farm ers in the neighborhood during his active year. The survivors, other than Mrs. .lungwirth. include a niece, Mrs. Guy W'yman of near Lacomb. and a nephew and sister-in-law in California. Funeral arrangements are as yet unannounced. Sunday Mrs. Smith ret u ruled home with her grand- Warren Kean ALBANY, Jan. 17 -(Special)- Funeral services for Warren Kean, 80, who died January 15 at his home in West Albany, will be held from the Fisher .Funeral home at 2:30 o'clock Friday, Jan uary 18. Burial will be In Riverside. Born at Linnwood, Mo., on No vember 5, 1865,, he moved with his parent to Texas in 1879. From Texas he went to Kansas and then to Nebraska. In 1905 he came to Oregon and has lived in this com munity the past 40 years. He was farmer for many years. He was member of the Free Methodist church. While living in Nebraska he married Dora Massey on March 16, 1892. She survives, as do daughter. Mrs. Myrtle Haley of Albany, and four sons, George KM Carl II, Silas O, and Paul W. Kean of Portland. Miss Blankenship was .born In Salem Sept. 22, 1900, thet daughi ter of Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Blank enship now residents of Shcdd. She jlived in Salem, Pendleton, Creswell and Eugene until the past five years. She was an artist. Miss Blankenship was member of the Baptist church. Surviving besides her parents are two brothers, Ivan of Oregon City, and SSgt. John Blankenship of the U. S. army air corps, now stationed at no well, N. M., and two sisters. Mrs. Juanita Schmidll of San Francisco, and Mrs. C. M. Stone of Harrisburg. The fire department an swered the call nd controlled the fire. William Douglas Gilliam DALLAS, Jan. 17 -(Special)- Services will be held at 2:30 p. m. Saturday at the Corvallis Baptist church for Dallas pioneer Willian I Douglas Gilliam, 84, who died January 16, at the home of his daughter, Miss Merlie Gilliam, of Corvallis. Gilliam was born and spent his life on the Gilliam do nation land claim, which had been homesteaded by his father, until last year when he sold his farm to his nephew, Dr. R. Gilliam, and moved to Corvallis. Survivors are: sons B. E. Gilliam of Portland; A. J. Gilliam, Al bany; daughters, Mrs. Annis Tilg- ner, Dallas, Miss Merlie Gilliam, Corvallis. Mr. Gilliam will be buried In the family cemetery plot in Dallas. He was well known as a breeder of cut wool sheep and angora goats. Canby Man Weds California Girl HUBBARD, Jan. 17-(Special)r Friends of Eileen Bontrager have heard of her recent marriage to Lester Douthit of Canby, January' 6, at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Herman Bontrager at El jiajon, Calif. following awards from Joe Stoi; Neal Nelson for personal help and woodcarving and Buddy Rose and Junior Helmig for personal help. Woodburn troop i 53 received awards from Carl Millard. They were given to Perry Williams, scoutmaster, for safety, public health, personal health, physical development, eamniratf and mast onry; .Lorren Lippert and Willis Meisenhcimer for j pathfinding; Rodney Polly for hiking, survey ing, weather, and to Donald Scan borough for firemamship. Paul Nestell was awarded a veteran scout 15-year award and Perry Williams received a five year award and a life badge. The attendance award went to the Eldridge troop 68. . A special feature of the court was a description of Boy Scouting in India as told by Fred Even der,' jr., Woodburn, a former eagle scout who recently spent three years in Assam, India, with the U. S. army. Scouters of the Silver Falls district were told that their next meeting would be held January 22 at Gervais.
