Dr. Clifford Maser, Oregon State college business and industries di vision head, said the United States faces little competition for the next few years because other countries are not. in a positioi to compete. During that time, he said, the change-over should be made. OSC Totals Aid In Filling Jobs CORVALLIS, Jan. 17 - (SP) -Nearly a quarter-mjllion farm jobs a new record were filled by Oregon State cpllege's farm labor service last year, officials said today. The 206.57 placements about 25.000 ahead of 1944. ers, had the greatest number ef men placed en jobs. Of the total, 201.831 were for seasonal work, while 4945 were placed in permanent Jobs. Boys and girls accounted for 60,956 ! placement", w omen 27,080 and men 118,536. bought the former King home at 4155 First street and plan to lea v. the farm. Their son Lyle and his wife, will take ovefthe manage ment of the farm. Marion county had the largest number of placements in reional crops. Most of the workers were women and children.
