Luke earlier had opportunity to
examine the family genealogical
registry and talk to Temple offi
cials. Many dependable sources
there, and in Galilee, survived in
Luke's time.
Now he came, at last, to a
summit overlooking Nazareth, a
sleepy hamlet of clean limestone
houses, amid silvery olive or
chards and feathery palms.
In a peaceful valley, ringed by
IS rounded hills, flocks grazed in
the clearings between groves of
pomegranates. Partway up the
highest hill, cupped in nature's
sanctuary, was the town.
"The home of that buy ... of
my Savior!" Luke swallowed hard.

Army Rejects
Space Vehicle
Idea by Firm
WASHINGTON. Dec. 20 (-The
Army said today it has looked
over a model of a "proposed
space vehicle" developed by Otis
T. Carr of Baltimore, but has
no interest in the project.
In reply to a question, a spokes
man said Army representatives
met with Carr in Baltimore on
Monday to investigate his model.
The spokesman said:
"The model shown does not
meet present or foreseeable needs
of the Army and the Army has
no further interest in the project
as presented."
Carr's OTC Enterprises Inc.,
when it announced its plans Oct.
28, said it had developed a meth
od of using gravity in circular
motion machines capable of pow
ering everything from hearing
aids to space cruisers. 1
The firm claimed it could build
a tree energy circular foil
space craft to hedge-hop among
the planets in controlled flight if
enough money were made avail
able. Carr officials did not speci
fy how much money was needed.
When it announced its claims.
the Carr firm said it had sent
rough outlines of them to govern
ment officials.

during the Christmas season is to does not know. People of our com-
become involved with the many
details of sending and receiving
greetings and gifts, details of pro
grams being presented by our
churches, our lodges and our serv
ice organizations. We cannot neg
lect any of these matters without
a sense of guilt because some of
our friends will be left out, or
someone's Christmas will be
meager unless we do our part.
Lest we become all worn out with
such busyness and wonder whether
we have missed the meaning and
purpose of the season, it is well
for us to take stock of our activi
ties and evaluate them in relation
to the true message of Christmas.
The time-worn custom of ex
changing gifts at Christmas, and
the benevolent giving to the poor,
munity, and other communities
who have heard of the "Babe in
Bethlehem born," are being in
fluenced by His teachings and
example, even though they may be
completely unaware of the source
of their motives.
In ways that may be almost
completely hidden from our obser
vation, the prophecy of Zechariah
(Luke 1:68) may still be in the
process of fulfillment, that "God
has visited and redeemed his
people." The expression from the
prophecies of Isaiah, quoted by
Matthew (Matt. 1:23) "His name
shall be called Emmanuel (which
means, God with us)" should take
on added significance in our world
as we see God's will being done.

NEW YORK unA young actress
is making a career out of the play
"Career."
Mary James played the role of
a talent agent when the drama
about show business opened to cri
tical success off-Broadway last
spring. She withdrew from the
company to create the same part
in a Philadelphia production, then
went off to the West Coast whec
"Career" was done in Los An
geles. Those stints completed, she
returned to the original produc
tion. 1
The term, "turnpikes," comes
from 1795 when long poles (or
"pikes") barred privately built
roads in Pennsylvania. The
"pikes" were not turned up to per
mit passages of stages and other
vehicles until a toll was paid.
