Sandwiches, hot or cold art the mainstay of most outdoor
meals. They may be sandwiches prepared at home, or
those made over the fire. Here we open up a can of Vienna
sausages, put them between crusty rolls, along with slices
of cheese and generous spreading of barbecue sauce.
The rest of the menu includes crisp relishes, a melon,
pickled beets and a hot beverage in the thermos bottle.
Picnickers Say Sandwiches
Greatest Outdoor Food
The greatest boon to outdoor eaten is the sandwich, la one form
er another. It may be the polite kind with two pieces of spread bread
neatly put together with chicken, meat or a mixed spread. But
chances are it will be a more rugged hamburger, grilled cheese,
or some interesting filling combination, more practical for outdoor
Informality than the formal dining table.
But whatever the food lor out-'
door eating, you'll want it filling,
and simple. This time we suggest
Vienna submarines, big Juke sand
wiches just right for hungry out
door folks. Split loaves of crusty
French bread and fill with cheese
and Vienna sausages; send along
tomatoes to slice and slip Inside
before eating. Crunchy raw salad
foods, a jar or can of pickled
beets, and bananas or an tn-season
melon for dessert make the picnic
packing easy and the serving
simple. For an extra treat, fin the
thermos with well chilled tomato
Juice.
