Washington St., who was reported
mining since Wednesday.
Harold Patterson of the same
address told police he had accom
panied Scotten to Portland, where
Scotten was to report to the Vet
erans Hospital (or treatment of an
illness, but left him at the bus sta
tion, police said.

Schulke, Silverton, was maneu

driven by his wife, Mrs. Carolee
Schulke, who had run out of gas,
police said. Driver of the other
car was listed as Richard Merle
Kemper, 1950 N. 24th St.
Schulke was cited for parking
on a highway, police said. Dam
age was moderate, they added.
Three Cars in
Freeway Crash
Three cars were involved in a
collision caused by one of them
skidding out of control about 1:30
p. m. Sunday on Salem-Portland
freeway near Aurora Junction,
state police said.
Damage, was moderate, they
said. Drivers were listed as Jerry

ent heart attack across the street
in Jason Lee Church. Firemen who

Weapon Count
A Salem Post Office clerk was
charged early Sunday morning
with carrying a concealed weapon
after a gun was found in his car,
city police said.
Facing the charge was Ray
mond George Reeves, 35, of 215
S Winter St.. with bail set at 110,

County District Court Judge E. O
St-'dter Jr.. pol;ce said.
Pol'ce stooped Reeves in his car
af.er investigating a disturbance
report about 3 a.m. at the home of
his ex-wife. Mrs. Viola Reeves,
1895 Lorain Ct . and searched the
car with his permission, thev said.

Check Count
An Aurora boy, 16, was charg
ed with attempt. ng to obtain
money by false pretenses Satur-,
day afternoon after he allegedly i
sought to cash a check for $26.98
in a Safeway store at Court and j

Police said the youth handed
the check to a Safeway employe
about 1:30 p. m. then ran out the
door while the manager was
phoning the bank. The manager
chased the boy and held him un
til police arrived, they said.
The boy admitted trying to
pass a check at Safeway, as well
as cashing checks at three other
Salem stores, police said.
The boy is to be turned over
to Marion County Juvenile Court

Police Aid in
Brother Quest
Salem police were asked Sunday
to aid in a search for Jack Le
Moyne, 59, of 770 N. Front St.,
owner of Lemco Restaurant

Sisters from Missouri and Cal
ifornia said he had been missing I
since before Christmas except for
a visit Tuesday to a Salem doctor
who sa'd he was seriously ill and
advised him to go to a hospital,

The sisters, Mrs. S. E. Honrv,
Kansas City. Mo., and Mrs. Ed
Vardy. San Fernando, Cali'.. came
to Salem to find their brother, po
lice said.

St. Mark's Votes Approval
For New Church Building
The congregation of St. Mark's
Lutheran Church, at Its annual
meeting Sunday night, approved
specifications for a new church
as outlined by its building com
mittee, and authorized that com
mittee to award and sign the
contract.

Sunday night. The building com
mittee outlined the anticipated
cost and nature of the new struc
ture at the meeting, and is now
completing final negotiations, he
said.

an enlarged budget for 1837 and
elected a Church Council consist
ing of: Leslie Davis, Mark Gehlor,
Edward Jenson, Dr. Otto Krsus
haar, Oscar Liudahl (all three
year terms), William Stoitz (two
year term), and Arnold Olson
(one year term). All are newly
elected. V. V. Lytle was named
as a delegate to the Convention
of the Pacific Synod, to be held
in May in Portland.
Three contractors submitted
bids on the new church. The con
gregation had earlier endorsed
the idea of a new church, but on

mously to go ahead with the ac
tual contract-signing ' and con

Two Dead in
Alaska Crash
Of Army Plane
FAIRBANKS, Alaska, Jan. 20
ll The bodies of two men who
were in a light Army plane miss
ing since Friday were lound in
the wreckage of the plane today.
Names of the fliers are being
withheld until next of kin have
been notified.
The wreckage was sighted by
a helicopter from the 74th Air
Rescue Squadron from Ladd Air
Force Base. The missing 1.19 was
found on the frozen Tanana River
mile and a half southeast of
the Fairbanka International Air
port this morning. (
The last word heard from the
plane, inbound from Galena,
about 300 miles west of Fair
banks, was a request made to
Ladd AFB Friday night for land
ing instructions.
