Ballet to Open Willamette Series The ballet team of Kovach and Rabovsky, will open the 1956-57 Willamelte yniversily distinguished artists series on Nov. IS at 8: IS p.m. in the University Fine Arts Auditorium. ', Kora Kovach and Istvan Rabov sky, , Russian-trained, Hungarian born ballet dancers, made head lines with their escape from' be hind the Iron Curtain three years ago. Fleeing from East Germany during a ballet performance, the dance ' team then performed as guest artists with the Ballets de Paris and London's Festival Bal let, finally making their American debut on Ed Sullivan's television show. They have since danced on that program a number of occa sions, appeared with the Festival Ballet on its American tour a year ago, and have just returned from : an extensive tour with their en semble through South America and Western Europe. In addition to the Kovach and Rabovsky concert Nov. 15, the distinguished artists series will present Jose Iturbi. pianist, Dec. 13; Cesar Valletti, "tenor, Jan. 24; and the Vienna Choir Boys March, . Musicians In Concert Wednesday Leslie Junior High School music department will present several of its. organizations in concert Wednesday, November 14 at 7:30 p.m. More than 300 students will take part in this program which will include the various bands, orchestras, and the ninth grade chorus. High School's choral, instrumental and speech groups are working to present the seventh annual fall concert", Nov. 16 at t p.m. in the school auditori um. This year's theme, "Autumn Jubilee," is a variety show featur ing . everything in the fall season from football to a playette. North's newly formed speech activities class, advised by Glen Smith, will perform for the first time in the yearly program by presenting the William Soroyan play. "The People with Light Com ing Qut of Them." Three members of the speech group, Jan Van Someren, J i m Snell and Louis Parker, will also present an adapted version of the Robert Frost poem, "The Death of the Hired Man." North's acapella choir, directed by Howard F. Miller, will sing several appropriate numbers about Thanksgiving and a number of old Broadway hits will be sung by the Girls' Glee. ' .Marches and novelty humbers will be presented TrFSortlTs band, led by Russell Wittmer and under the direction of Richard McClin tic, the string orchestra will play concert music ranging from "Sym phony in C'1 by Haydn to "Deep Purple.", Harmaneltes to Perform North's "Harmonettes," Helen Manke, Margaret Bolt and Dar lene Goodman, will present an epi sode from a typical high school hayride.'
