Gordoa Shattuck, appointed Thursday to a top position with the Oregon public util ities commissioner's staff. Shattuck to Assume State PUC Position The appointment of F. Gordon Shattuck as assistant to the Public Utilities Commissioner was an nounced Thursday by Commis sioner Charles H. Heltiel. Shattuck will replace Warne H. Nunn, who has been appointed to the position of director of the new j department of motor vehicles. Shattuck, 46, has been with the Oregon State F.mployment Service and the Unemployment Compensa-1 tion Commission since 1940. H has I served in various technical and! managerial capacities in udditiun ! to his present position of personnel director with that agency. i He served two years with the Air Force during World War II. . Shattuck attended Washington High School in Portland and received a degree in engineering from Ore gon State College. He has done! post graduate work in personnel administration. j In his new position Shattuck will be responsible for administrative accounting, procedures, personnel and general services. Shattuck has been active in the Pacific Northwest Personnel Man agement Association having served as president as well as regional director. APPOINTMENT TOLD Gov. Smith, general executive secretary for world mis sions with the National Board of Missions of the Methodist Church in New York, has been selected as baccalaureate speaker at Wil lamette University on Sunday, May 27. A participant in many Interna tional and interchurch conferences. Dr. Smith keeps in touch with lead ers in 32 countries where Methodist missionaries are serving and in 10 other countries where the board of missions in cooperation with Methodist churches have estab lished American missionaries. His travels have taken him all over Europe, Africa and Asia. Dr. Smith graduated from Wil lamette University in 1934, attend ed Drew Theological Seminary, and received his doctor of philoso phy degree from New York Univer sity. He has been a pastor of Meth odist churches in New Jersey and at present he holds the positions of vice president of the National Council of the Churches of Christ in the U.S.. and chairman of the executive board of its Division of Foreign Missions. Route 2, Box 52. Sweet Home, was in serious condition Thursday eve ning at Santiam Memorial Hospital following a one-car accident about 9 a.m. near Britenbush Bridge, just west of Detroit. Hospital attendants said Scott received internal injuries and a severe laceration on his head. State police said Scott was driv ing west at the time of the acci dent and apparently crashed into an embankment on the right hand side of the road. Scott was alone in the car, police said. Dean Reese's IWork Honored Willamette University's dean of the law school, Seward Reese, was notified this week that a set of functional administrative charts he has prepared will be used as part of a Seminar in Legal Education, sponsored by the New York Univer sity school of law this summer. Law School Administration will he the subject for consideration at the seminar. Reese's charts, which outline the activities of the law dean's office, cover the responsi bilities of Willamette University's College of Law administration and wilt be reproduced and presented to the deans of colleges of law attending the summer seminar. Charge Against Man Dismissed i Charges of contributing to the delinquency of a minor were dis ! missed Thursday against a Salem man. Cloyd G. Lawrence, 59, 422 S. High St., was indicted on the charge Dec. 15. 1955, by a Marion County grand jury. The accusation involved a five-year-old Salem girl. Circuit Judge Georgs Duncan, wha was presiding at Lawrence's trial, ordered the dismissal on the defense attorney's motion.
