Th elephants are train ed by Rudy Mueller, who is hailed as the greatest animal trainer in show business. Capt. Dedrick's trained animals includ "Rowdy," the high-diving dog and a combined pony-dog act Medford Man To Head Area 20-30 Clubs A two-day convention of Oregon 10 30 clubs concluded Sunday at th Hotel Marion with election of top officers and re-emphasis of plans for an expansion campaign In th state. jonn watkins, Medford, was re-elected district governor of the organization and Ralph Jackson, I Salem, was named lieutenant gov ernor. Some 70 members from seven clubs present at the Sunday ses sion voted to hold next year's con vention at Gearhart Th 1937 meet will be sponsored Jointly by the Salem and McMinnville clubs. ' Fire Causes $4,000 Loss to Aurora House , BUtnaua Jti ttrvkt AURORA - An estimated $4,000 damage resulted Sunday when fire broke out in a house rented by Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Paulsen on Aurora Route 1, firemen reported. House owner is R. H. Bassett, Salem. The flames completely destroyed a second-floor closet full of clothes and also caused damage to attic and roof. Discovered by Mrs. Paul sen about 4:15 p.m., the fire appar ently started from a downstairs wood heater. The flames were fought by men and equipment from Aurora, Don ald and Woodburn fire depart ments. Damage reportedly was covered by insurance. OSC Salem Honor Grades Mrs. Cook Rites Tuesday i . The Rev. Lowell Holle will offici ate at funeral services for Mrs. Sally Kelley Cook. Tuesday, at 1:30 p.m. In Virgil T. Golden Chapel. Mrs. Cook died Saturday at the age of 71 In a local hospital follow ing a stroke last Tuesday. She was born at Athens, Ga., Sept. 21, 1877, and moved with her family to Mis souri while still a child. Her first husband, Charles Tildon Kelley died in 1920, the year they moved to Salem. In 1935 she married Edward R. Cook, who survives. She was the mother of five for mer all-state Salem High School athletes, and a member of First Christian Church and the American War Mothers. CORVALLIS-Twenty-seven stu dents from Salem have been listed on the winter term scholastic hon or roll at Oregon State College. Each student's winter term grade average was 3.5 points or better on the basis of an A equal ing four point. Kour students were singled out for special recognition. Miller, vocal direc tor at North Salem High School, will leave Wednesday by plane for the 80th anniversary conven tion of the Music Educator's Na tional Conference in St Louis, Mo. ' Miller, who is completing a six-year term as representative for the Western States on the Executive Council of the Nation al Interscholastic Music Activi ties Commission, is scheduled as a member of two panels on music education problems.
