As for the awards themselves, they left me a little numb. After all, I'm i Hollywood girl, not a New Yorker. But there's no quarreling with the wonderful suc cess of the Phil Silvers show (and I noted here last fall that it would be the show of the year), or the well-deserved pair of Emmyg that went to Nanette Fabray, even though It would seem to me a mat' ter of record that Lucille Ball is still the finest comedienne of our Say. Sid Caesar, it would also seem to me, must be the most em barrassed man in the country. He hasn't been within sniffing distance of an Emmy since he split up with Imogene Coca and just last week he split up with Fabray. By aad large, however, the voters ased their heads. Dinah Share waa wt aver such bob-TV aerMnallties as nomineei Judy Garland and Rosemary Oooary. Lacille Ball was aamed the best actress la a centinuiag performance. "Lassie" made H twa years la a rtw as the best children's show, giving the hack of his paw U such monstr- silies as "Howdy Doody" aad their aoisy ilk. Aad Lloyd Nelaa re ceived aa ut-and-ut avatioi far his Emmy as best actor la a single performance. What eaa be quarreled with Is the Academy's insistence aa mak ing a dinner party af the affair.
