Oregon's First Lady Will Be
Honored at Tea on Tuesday

Social hiehlight of the corning week will be the tei for which
Mrs. Lee V. Ohmart snd Mrs. Charles H. Heltzel will be hostesses
on Tuesday afternoon at the former's North 14th Street home. The
affair is being arranged in compliment to Oregon's first lady, Mrs.
Elmo E. Smith, who recently moved to Salem with Governor Smith
firm John Day.
A large group of friends have been invited to call between 2 30
and 5;30 o'clock to welcome Mrs. Smith to Oregon's capital city. The
Jmstesses and honor guest will receive informally in the living. room.
Greeting guests at the door will be Mrt. John Heltrel, Mrs. Rudy
Calaba and Mrs. Marjorie Gabriel.
Presiding it the tea urns during the afternoon will be Mrs. Earl
Snell. Mrs. Charles A. Sprague. Mrs. Arnold Roethlin, Mrs. William
L. Thillips, Mrs. W. W. Gabriel of Portland and Mrs. George Ross

Spinsters Benefit Fashion Show
At Marion Hotel on Thursday

One of the outstanding benefit affairs of the early spring season
will be held Thursday night, March 8, when the Spinsters sponsor
their annual fashion show. The affair will be held in the Gold and
Green Rooms of the Marion Hotel beginning at 8 o'clock with dessert
following.
Theme of the show is "In the Spring, a Young Man's Fancy
Turns . . ." Mrs. Charles Weeber
will be the commentator and Mrs.
Raymond Barton the organist.
Fashions, which will be from John
son's, will feature gowns for the
bride, her attendants, the mothers,
for traveling and for parties.
Floral arrangements will be from
Eola Acres. A bridal dress of her
choice will be given to a bride-to-be
attending the benefit show.

Open With A

Launching the opening of the
golf season for the Salem Wom
en's Golf Association will be the
coffee to be given by the board
of directors at the Morningside
home of Mrs. Kenneth Potts, on
Friday morning, March 9. Hours

The season opens Wednesday,
March 14 with a 9 o'clock break
fast at the Salem Golf Club, fol
lowed by a business meeting and
a round of golf. Golf will be in
