Emerick, pastor of the sponsoring Keizer church, said the choir program Construction Progresses at New Church Salem Heights Baptist Church has made progress in its new Sun day School unit this past month. Under the supervision of Ted Lind, the basement and first floor sec tions are progressing as planned. Volunteer help in the evenings and Saturdays has speeded up the work and the church hopes to be in the building, by April 1, Easter Sunday. The day-light basement will house the pastor's study, nursery room, kitchen, social room and 9 class will be used for a temporary worship place and S class rooms. Beginning Sunday an extended session of the Church School will be held during the 11 o clock worship. Classes for Kin dergarten and Primary age child ren will offer an additional hour for Christian education. Parents who attend these services are in vited to bring their children to these classes. An additional feature has been added to the regular Church School program. During the general as sembly period, preceding the classes, a large turn-over chart entitled. "Spiritual Life for Metho dist Christians" is being used. This illustrated chart presents Methodist beliefs, history, and practices. The most important aspect of the expanded educational program is in the youth emphasis. Youth are taking an active part in the present church attendance crusade. Following the Sunday 11 o'clock service there will be a hamburger fry for the Senior and Intermediate Methodist Youth Fellowships. A study of the provision God has made for men's need of sal vation will be taught by the Rev. John R. Turnbull. Dr. Lloyd T. Anderson, president of the school, will teach on the Books of first and second Peter. The Rev. Alex H. Sauerwein, dean of the school, who has recently moved to Ta coma, Wash., will be returning each week to teach two courses, one in the study of Genesis and the other a brief survey of each of the New Testament books. A reception for all members joining Grace Lutheran congrega tion in the past year will be held in connection with a fellowship dinner following the worship at Grace Lutheran Sunday. There will be a short program during which the new members will be Intro duced and welcon ed by officers of the congregation. At the 'annual congregational meeting held Tuesday a financial program for 19M exceeding 515,000 was adopted. Reception Planned For New Members State Parks Unit Outlines Study Areas REEDSPORT - William M. Tug- man, chairman of the advisory committee assigned by Gov. Paul Patterson to make a special study of state parks administration and organization, is emphasizing that the state park hearings Feb. 24 and 25 are to be devoted to prob lems of policy, not detailed proj ects. Tugman said that many of the letters which are coming to him indicate a desire to discuss spe cific park projects, details of land acquisition of improvement which are not really in the province of the Advisory Committee. He added, "Our committee really has just one main problem to study whether our state parks should remain under the jurisdiction of the Oregon State Highway Com mission, or whether they should the It o'clock service. Baptist Youth To Present Mission Film The Associated Student Body of First Baptist Church will present a film next Wednesday at 7:30 p. m. in the auditorium of the church. The film, "Angel in Ebony", is the true story of one of Christian Mission's "Hall of Fame." Sammy Morris, young African, about whom the film story is written is known throughout Christendom as one of the most courageous young men to come from Africa. At the Sunday evening gospel service the "Collegiate Choral", under the direction of Page Bailey, will sing. Also featured will be Rodney Schmidt in a violin solo.
