Revealed
Mr. and Mrs. John T. Burris of
Salem are announcing the engage
ment of their daughter. Miss Vir
ginia Ann Burris. to David William
Pelot, son of Mr. and Mrs. Carl
Pelot of Wisconsin Rapids, Wiscon
sin. Both are students at North
western College in Minneapolis,
Minnesota.
The news was revealed to a
group of close friends and students
from Salem, who also attend
Northwestern at a Thanksgiving
Day dinner at the home of Mr. and
Mrs. Oswald Morley. formerly of
Salem. Miniature bells of Thanks
giving were rung by each guest,
with the bride-elect announcing
the news when ringing her bell.
No date has been set for the
wedding. Both plan to continue
their studies . at Northwestern.
Miss Burris is a graduate of North
Salem High School

Politics Parties
Over 70 attended the Petticoat
Politics parties sponsored by the
Salem Club, Republican Women's
Federation of Oregon on Tuesday.
At the coffee held in Woodburn
enough applications for member
ship . were received to insure the
formation of a new club.

was Patrick Roden, chairman of
the Republican finance committee
for Marion, County.- .
Twelve new members were se
cured by the Salem club as a re
sult of the Tuesday's coffee.
The Teen Canteen which meets
weekly at the YWCA will not be
held this Saturday.

which Includes Courtney Kurtz
and Jeff Walton, and members of
Pi Beta Phi, such as JoAnn
Hoover, Nancy Lidbeck, Judy
Loucks, Julie Miller, Marilyn
Mount and Nancy Payne, won the
noise parade on Friday evening.
Barbara Bacon, Jack Baker,
Jan Cummings, Sharon Heider,
Anne Heltzel, Sondra Jochimson,
Sandi Pearson and Kaye Tomlin
son were also noise-making as
the parade wound its way to the
site of the bonfire and students
then migrated to the variety
show.
Liz Shafer helped Alpha Chi
Omega win the sign contest and
Sigma Nu was first in the men's
division. Delta Gamma with Pat
Deeney and Charlie McClelland
and Bob Prall as Theta Chi's
helped their living organizations
place second.
Homecoming Dance
Since the South won the civil
war game 28 to 0 on Saturday
afternoon the Ducks were in
high spirits for the Homecoming
dance Saturday evening. On
