Gaines was a 53-year member
of the MU1 City IOOF lodge.
Surviving are one brother,
Richard L. Gaines, Albany; one
sister, Mrs. Hattie Sims of Fort
land; several nieces and .neph
ews, including Mrs. Henry Ob

all-day meeting Thursday with the
Rev. and Mrs. Edward Salter in
the new parsonage at Smyrna. The
day was spent quilting and work
ing on hand work which will be
sold at the annual bazaar on Fri
day evening, Dec. 2. at the Elliott
Prairie Community hall.

.Work on the marble-faced and
reinforced concrete roofed mau
soleum is expected to begin in
early spring of 1956. ;Tbe build
ing is estimated to have a cost
of more than $30,000. It was
designed by Joseph W. fleider,
Portland architect. ;
Additional sections will be
cum onto tne mausoleum as
needed. The present building
-plans call for housing of 100
crypts. The mausoleum will be
built in the southern section of
Evergreen Memorial Park.

PTA 'Tuesday night. Several proj
ects were suggested and given
over to a special committee for
investigation as to cost and ap
proval of the school board.

health chairman. Volunteers for
the project committee are Mrs.
Thomas Enright, Mrs. W. A.
Rickman, Mrs. Bernard Focht,
Harold Holler and Gerald Smith
headed by Arthur Bradley, fifth
grade teacher.

1905, living for a time at Amity
where he was a. member of the

One minor boundary: change was
approved and a request for an
other denied Thursday at a meet
ing of the district boundary board
in the Marion County school office.
Transfer of the Fred Stadeli farm
from the Central Howell to Ever
green district was authorized, ef
fecting one child. A petition to
transfer the Vernal Pickens prop
erty from North Howell to Bethany
district was denied i because of
overcrowding at Bethany. Both
boards had agreed to the latter
decision.
