Only a short time longer, hope those who dislike it. Probably both groups of hopefuls are wrong. Turks Abduct Young Greeks ATHENS, Greece un The gen darmerie chief of Atexandroupolu said Sunday two young Greek fish-: ermen were abducted Friday byj Turkish soldiers. He said a vigor ous protest lodged with the prefect of Adrianople (Edirne) in Turkey remained unanswered. (A dispatch from Edirne said the governor's office categorically denied that Turkish soldiers had crossed the border and abducted two Greeks. The office said every frontier post had been checked and there was absolutely no basis for the report.) State's U.S. Solons Blast Die Policies; WASHINGTON UT Sens. Doug las (D-ni) and Morse D-Orc) accused the Eisenhower adminis tration Sunday of breaking cam paign promises. In a radio program prepared for broadcast in Oregon they aimed particular criticism at Vice Presi dent Nixon and Secetary of Agri culture Benson. , "The administration has broken its pledge," Douglas said, in a blast at GOP farm policies. He renewed his contention that Presi dent Eisenhower in campaign speeches in 1952 repeatedly en dorsed the principle of farm price supports at 90 per cent of parity, but later switched to flexible price supports.' Douglas said Republicans, "Par ticularly in a speech by Vice President Nixon." now deny what Eisenhower promised to back 90 per cent price supports. "What I find shocking about this is not only the fact that they failed to keep their pledge, but that they now deny that they ever made the pledge, or they say it was not given, Douglas added. Morse said "It is so unfortunate that the Republican leaders are trying to crawl out on those com mitments. They were made." Interviewing Douglas on the pro gram, Morse cited recent state ments by Nixon which he said endorsed rural electrification (REA) and soil conservation pro grams. Morse said the votes of most Republican senators on REA and soil conservation legislation "can not be squared with what Nixon is talking about these days." Douglas accused Secretary Ben son of "an attempt to set the farm ers and the industrial wage earn ers against each other on the principle of divide and conquer.'" . He and . Morse - challenged a speech Benson made recently to the National Agricultural Imple ment Assn. Morse quoted Benson as having told the association that "many of the wage increases for the industrial workers are not justified because they did not ir volve any increase in productiv ity." Douglas said rises in the cost of farm implements are due pri marily td bigger profits collected by the companies and that "they, of course, have in part tried to get out from under these increased prices by blaming it on labor. TOOI thing called "Show Biz" into the color mill. It came out mostly chaff with very little wheat. The color this time came from NBC's ultra-modern color studio at Burbank, but it couldn't hold a green candle io the color that came out of the NBC Brooklyn studio a week ago with Max Lieb- man's "Heidi."! It was extremely ; spotty, extremejy difficult to tune. The color values changed from camera to camera and from set to set. They changed even with the same camera jon the same set ; when a performer moved from one spot to anotherj Really good color was evident only during most of the commer cials and during the last number ef the show which alse happened to be the onlyj time the show it self showed signs of coming to life. Three people were with me i at the time who had never seen color before, and tbey all reacted ! alike a little disappointed, criti cal of the color, and quite positive ! that they had no intention of going ut and baying a : set. Yet, at the same time they were flabbergasted ' at the thonght ( actually seeing a : live color show j flashed on the I screen instantaneously. As for the show itself, the less said the better. We none of us ; would have stayed with it had it ! not been for thp novelty of seeing color, even though the weather gray and not a little chilly made 'it much more comfortable indoors than out at 3:30 in the afternoon.' (The four-hour lime difference be ' tween New Yor!k and Los Angeles has been rapidly driving everyone : in TV out of his mind.) ; Verdict: Color is fun, if it's well .done but quite frankly, honey, 'it's not worth the money. Said he'd rather, just ad lib on a special subject. The subject was careful driving. He addressed him self, to young drivers the himself was just 24 . He spoke thoughtfully and earnestly. At the end, he turn ed and started to walk away from tne camera. Then he stopped and turned back, impulsively. His last words were: '.'Drive carefully, kids. Re member, the life yon save may be mine." The film was scheduled is go on the air last Wednesday, lour days after his death. It was cancelled. la aU likelihood, it will never be seen.
