Grain Market
Prices Drop
CHICAGO Ufi Grains sold off
on the Board of Trade Monday but
managed to close considerably
above the day's lows. In most
cases these lows were set in the
first hour of trading.
Corn and soybeans lost the most.
On the recovery wheat did best,
although the only contract to close
higher was March oats. Other oats
contracts showed wider losses than
did wheat futures.
Wheat closed lower, corn
-lT4 lower, oats T lower to Vi
higher, rye Yt-k lower, soybeans
1H-2V4 lower and lard 12 to 20
cents a hundred pounds lower.
Wheat started to firm after ex
port circles reported Italy had re
quested offers on two million bush
els of the grain after the close.
These sources also said Japan was
scheduled to buy 500.000 bushels
of American or Canadian feed
wheat Wednesday.
