Features Hostesses Arrange Showers In Honor of Brides-Elect V Brides-elect re sharing honors at many pre-nuptial parties this month prior to their summer weddings. Mrs. William L. Lidbeck entertained Friday night at her country home on Pringle Road in ' compliment to Miss Mary Laughlin, who will be married to Howard William Barlow in July. A miscellaneous shower feted the future Mrs. Barlow and a late dessert supper was served by the hostess. ' - Honoring Miss Laughlin were Mrs. S. B. Laughlin, Mrs. Wil liam S. Laughlin of Eugene, Mrs. Howard H. Barlow, Miss Jane Barlow, Miss Diane Ramsey of Eugene. Mrs. Joseph R. Honor Miss Railsback Miss Patti Railsback, who will fce married to Frank Wallis of Silverton on June 26 at Yachats, was the honor guest at a shower Monday night when Miss Janet Westfall and Miss Carol Fisher entertained at the Edwin W. Fisher home. . A miscellaneous showef feted the bride-to-be and a late supper was served by the hostesses. 1 . Fisher, Misses Claudia Talmage, ..Helen Callaghan, Mary Jane Rud, Mary Jo Brora, Sharon Heider, Sally Becker and the hostesses. j Miss Harrington Feted Mrs. David Wetherbe and Mrs. Finn Swensen were host esses for a bridal shower at the former's home on Skyline Road I for the pleasure of Miss Norma Harrington, who will be married to Lowell W. Nightingale on Sun day. A late supper was served following the miscellaneous shower. Honoring Miss Harrington were Mrs. H. A- Harrington, Mrs. 11. J. Petersen, Mrs. James Houck, Mrs. Floyd Baker, Mrs. John Van Loh, Mrs. Edith Ricks, Mrs. Dena Sherman of Phoenix, Arizona, Misses Marilyn Blake ley, Helen Cadd, Carolyn Mess mer, Billie Miller and the host esses. . ' - The Kappa Alpha Theta ahua nae will hold a no-host picnic luncheon Thursday at the coun try home of Mrs. Phillip Brandt at one o'clock. Miss Senske Is Bride of Mr. Jipp Miss Donna Lorraine Senske and Rodney A. Jipp exchanged their marriage vows at a 2 o'clock ceremony on June 11 at St Jo seph's Catholic Church. The bride is the daughter of Mrs. Margaret Senske and her husband is tne son of Mr. and Mrs. R. A. Jipp. Father Joseph E. Vanderbeck performed the nuptials. Wayne Meusey was the soloist and Mrs. Raymond Barton the organist Richard eSnske gave his sis ter in marriage. Her bridal gown was of lace and net with a three tiered net skirt enhanced with a panel of lace down the center. The fitted bodice of lace was made with a Peter Pan collar and the gown was embellished with seed pearls and sequins. Her fingertip illusion veil was caught to a headdress of seed pearls and sequins. She carried a bouquet of pink roses. Miss Judy Jackson was the hon or mai$ and she wore a yellow crystalette gown with a yellow flowered hat and carried a bas ket of yellow and blue daisies tied with blue ribbon. Miss Etta King, Mrs. Peggy Senske and Miss Darlene Meyers were the bridesmaids and they wore blue crystalette frocks with blue flow ered hats. They carried baskets of yellow and blue daisies tied with yellow ribbon. Attend the Bridegroom Don Meyer was best man and ushers were Jean Schwynoch, Richard Singer and Robert Rus sell. Mrs. Senske wore a pink suit for the wedding and Mrs. Jipp chose a grey suit Their corsages were yellow roses. A reception followed at the Knights of Columbus HalL Pour ing were Mrs. Richard Singer and Miss Carolyn - Haselbacher. Cutting the cake were Miss Jack ie Hayes and Miss Marne Christ ensen. Assisting were Misses Anne Lenninger, Pamela Jipp, Carolyn Jones, Cecilia Schwarz, Donna Carbaugh and Diane Halt The couple will be at home in Salem at 1160 Saginaw Street fol lowing their honeymoon. Mrs. Norman Austin Oris Woodcock), whose wedding was an event of June 12 at the Hope Presbyterian Church in Portland. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. C Woodcock of Amity, form erly of Salem. The bride groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. H. E. Austin of Visalia, Calif. (Steimonts Studio). Miss Giese Announces Betrothal j Mrs. Elizabeth Giese Is an nouncing the engagement of her daughter. Miss Caroline Giese, to David Brinks, son of Mrs. James Brinks of Portland. No date has been set for the wedding. The engagement was first re vealed to the couple's college friends at the spring formal ban quet at Westmont College, Santa Barbara, Calif. Later the news was told to a group of friends here at the Giese home. Miss Giese is a graduate of Sa lem schools and has completed her sophomore year at Westmont College. Ullman of Kingston, Ontario, Canada, to Dr. Roland ; Peter Beck, son of Mr. and Mrs. John B Beck of Salem. The ceremony took place on June 7 at St. An drew's Presbyterian Church in Kingston with Dr. Forbes Wed- cerburn officiating. ! Mr. and Mrs. Beck were in Kingston for their son's marriage and to attend his graduation from Queen's University. j The couple will live in Vancouver, B. C, where Dr. Beck will be on the in terne staff at Vancouver General Hospital. The bride wore a floorlength gown of French imported white embroidered nylon tulle with ap plique of satin. Her fingertip veil was of embroidered tulle and she carried a bouquet of white or chids and lily-of-the-valley. Mrs. Mary Clarke of Kingston, sister of the bride, ' was , matron of honor, and the bridesmaids were Miss Marilyn Tayler, Reg. N., of North Bay, Mrs. Alexandra Macintosh of Brockville, and Miss Jane Richmond, Kingston. The at tendants were gowned alike in floor length dresses of Swiss im ported eyelet organdy over crys tal shantung in Alice blue. They carried bouquets of white garden ias and blue chrysanthemums. Dr. Gerald Green of Shawnovan, Sask., was best man. Ushers were Dr. James Mackay, Kingston, Dr. Gerald Irwin, St. Alban's N. Y, Robert Jennes, Shawnowan, Otta wa. The tniests were received at a reception n the Burgundy Room oi Hotel La Salle. The bride's mother was gowned in navy blue chiffon and lace with pink acces sories and a corsage of pink gar denias. The groom's mother wore a gown of powder blue floral print, with blue accessories and a corsage of cornflowers. Dr. and .Mrs. Beck left for a wedding trip to Vancouver Island. Salem Unit 136, American Le gion Auxiliary will hold its final meeting of the season Thursday at the Salem Woman's Club at 8 p.m. There will be nomination and election of officers. A joint installation with the post is sched uled for June 28 at the Izaak Wal ton Clubhouse. Ha aatt- Date is Set For Rites Friday, July 8, has been set as the date for the coming marri age of Miss Shirley Jean Parks and Arnold August Manke, whose engagement was announced in April ' j- - The ceremony will be per formed at the Christ Episcopal Church in Seattle. Miss Parks is the daughter of George Parks of Seattle and her fiance is the son of Mr. and Mrs. August A Manke Jr. of Salem. Mr. Manke was released from active duty with the U.S. Navy this spring.
