Little Bonnie Dahl, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Laverne Dahl of Portland, 'was on the-Blind School campus while her parents attended sessions of the 7th Annual Institute for Parents of the Visually Handicapped Preschool Chil dren. With Bonnie is Mrs. L. L. Hickok, The Dalles, president of the Oregon Auxiliary of Lions Clubs who. are co-sponsors of the institute. (Statesman Photo) Fir-Tex Factory Plans to Reopen ST. HELENS (UP)-rOfficials of the Fir-Tex Insulating Board Com pany and Western Insulating Prod tts. Inc.. announced Saturday 'hat the plants would resume pro duction Monday. The two plants have been shut town since March 31 by a strike of some 425 workers. Management spokesmen said a "mutual understanding" had been reached with members of the union strike committee, but so far no formal agreement has been obtained. Students to Receive Degrees Today Decrees will be conferred on 175 Willamette; University students at commencement exercises to be held today at 3 p.m. at McCulloch Stadium. Class Reunions A number of classes, dating back from 1940, held group reunions at noon luncheons. Feature was a Sat urday night banquet for all alums at the Marion Hotel at which mem bers of the Silver and Golden an niversary classes of 1930 and 1905 were presented medallions by Dr. G. Herbert Smith, school president The medallions are given in mem ory of the late Dr. James Mat thews, longtime Willamette faculty member. Austin FkgeL Portland, former director of the A EC mission to Thailand and member of the class of 1912, dwelt on "Thailand Land of Friendly i People" as main speaker at the banquet. Recreation Planned Dr. Olds, member of the class of 1942, will speak on the "Awak ened Earth" in giving the com mencement address today. At con clusion of the " commencement ceremonies, seniors, parents, fac ulty and alumni will attend a re ception at Lausanne Hall. Classes meeting in group reun ions Saturday and their chairmen: 1940, George Sirnio, Salem; 1935, Lawrence Brown, Salem; 1930, Mrs. D. C. Isom, Salem; 1925, Dr. Malcolm Hammond, Idaho; 1920, Merrill Ohling, Salem;. 1915, Har old B. Jory, Salem Classes of 1910 and 1905 held no separate reunions because of in sufficient representation. Dean Mark O. Hatfield and Dr. Howard W. BunkeL members of the faculty, addressed the alumni at a Saturday morning session. The Saturday schedule also in cluded an annual meeting of the Willamette Board of Trustees and a session of the Alumni Associa tion's Executive Committee. - A highlight of today's commence ment will be presentation of of ficer? commissions to 29 seniors by Lt. Col. Norman W. Todd, com mander of the school's Air Force Reserve Training Program. Senior Jerry Friesen will sing the tra ditional "Farewell Willamette" I and the university band will pro vide the musical touch. Invocation and benediction will be by Rev. Ernest E. Tayler, rector of St Paul's Episcopal Church at The Dalles. The fire laddies poured streams of water on a red glow in a bedroom for several minutes with no appar ent results. They later discovered it was a bed lamp with a red shade. Bean in Windpipe Fatal to Youngster PORTLAND (UP) An autopsy Friday showed that two-year-old Patricia Taylor of Portland died after a bean became stuck in her windpipe. , The girl died Thursday . after noon at a local hospital after being strucken with convulsions while playing with white beans at her home. Cause of death could not im mediately be established. She was the daughter of Mr.' and Mrs; James Taylor.
