Angel resi dent for nine years, will be held at S:15 a.m. Monday at St Mary's Catholic Church here. Schefers was born Aug. S, 1872, at Richmond,, Minn., and died Thursday at a rest home in Subli mity. He was married July 6, 1897, to Gerrtude Berscheid who died March 7. - The rosary win be recited at 8 p.m. Sunday-at St. Mary's Church Interment will be at Calvary Ceme tery under direction of the Ekman Mortuary of Suverton. - Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Joseph Wessels. Mt. Angel, and Mrs. Paul Blenkush, Silver- ton; six sons, Roman, ML Angel, Linus, Westminster, Calif.; Wilfred, Medford; Florian. Park Rapids, Mbm.; Urban, Pittsford, N. Y.; and Wendelin, Portland, a brother, John Schefers, St. Joseph, Minn.; sister, Mrs. Antone Brim, Pine City, ' Minn.; numerous grandchil dren 'and one great-grandchild.' A 144 inch trout top ped all entries in that group to win him a spinning rod and reel. Sec ond prize went to David G. Corn stock and third prize went to Ger ald Whitehurst. me fishing derby, which was sponsored by a neighborhood mer chant, also had a contest for chil dren 11 and younger. First prize went to Tom Gourley with a catch of 134 inches. A girl, Karen Lee, was second with a 13-inch catch. Douglas Mekkers took third place with a 11-mch fish. DOUBLE TAKE TOLEDO, Ohio tf Patrolman Francis Smitley should get some kind of an award for efficiency. Following a motorist he said was traveling 56 in a 40-mile-per-hour zone, Smitley noticed another car gaining on him from behind. He arrested both drivers for speeding. Wahlquist, president of San Jose State College (Calif.), will teach - a two-week workshop course "Foundations of Education." vt. ue rata Read, associate professor of edu cation at Kent State University (Ohio) will team- up with another visiting profes sor, Dr. Eugene 'Dawson of Kan sas State Teach ers College to teach a work shop course in "Moral and Spirit ual Values." Teaching educational psychology and psychology of learning will be Dr. Clifford J. Corley, assistant di rector of admis sions at the Uni versity of M i s- soun. These courses will be offered during the regular sum mer session. Dr. Lloyd F. Sunderman, chairman of the department of music at the Uni versity of Toledo (Ohio), will teach a workshop course in "Musk in the Classroom. An Oregon trained teacher and ex-Fulbright exchange teacher in England, who is at present a teacher in the Chapman School in Portland, Miss Percie M. Miles will teach English composition and supervise the first grade in the campus laboratory school. Miss Florence Beardsley, direc tor of elementary education for Oregon, will teach a workshop in elementary education, and Miss Constance Weinman of Salem Pub lic Schools will teach an audio-visual course. ' Miss Clara Stoner, principal of a Portland school, will teach Eng lish composition and supervise a grade in the laboratory school. Dr. Oliver Hekitzelman, associ ate professor of geography at Ore gon State College, will be respon sible for four courses in geography. Gnnn to Return Dr. Henry M. Gunn, former Ore gon College of Education president and now superintendent of schools in Palo Alto, Calif., will teach, a workshop course in "Supervision of the Elementary School." Henry Tetz, superintendent of schools in the Monmouth Independence dis trict, will handle courses in "His tory of the Pacific Northwest and "Oregon Organization and Law.' - The summer session starts June 13 and will run for eight weeks to Aug. 5. The two-week ' workshops and short courses start on June 13, June 27, July 11 and July 25. Post I J Dies, lived At Sublimity Statesman News Service SUBLIMITY Final rites for Ja cob Frank, 86, a resident of mis area for 52 years, will be held at 8:15 ajn. Monday at St. Boniface Catholic Church here. The rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. both Saturday and Sun day at the church. ' Frank died Thursday at his home here. He. farmed for many years near Sublimity before retiring. Born Sept 14, 1868. at Clearfield, Pa., he married Margaret Lulay on Dec. 26, 1900, at Cumberland, Md., and they settled in this district in 1903. Surviving beside his wife are 13 children, John A. Frank, William J., Lawrence A., Walter A, and Leonard A. Frank, all of Sublimity; Father Clement Frank, Mt, Angel; Sister Marcine, Beaverton; Mrs. Irene Lyons, Clifton Forge, Va.; Amandas J., Stayton; Sister-Ruth, Convent Queen of Angels ; Mrs. Agnes Zwick, Holly, Colo.; Mrs. Rita Roberts, Aumsville; Mrs. marceua Manner, Mioumuy; a brother, Fred Frank, Arlington. Tex.; 33 grandchildren and two greatgrandchildren. A son. The Rev. Mr. Frank, will be celebrant of the requiem high mass, assisted by the Rev. Joseph Scherbrkig. Sebastian ' Terhaar, school chaplain, will officiate at the baccalureate mass and deliver the sermon on graduation day when services will be held in the chapel at 9 a.m. Evergreen School To Graduate Five . Miss Donna Henry SHERIDAN Graveside services were held at Sheridan Masonic Cemetery for Miss Donna Henry, 62, who died in McMinnville. Miss Henry was a school teacher most of her life. She is survived bya niece, Mrs. Jean McReynolds Lausen of Depoe Bay. David Blanchard SHERIDAN Services were held in McMinnville' for David Elmer Blanchard, 75, Sheridan, who died from injuries received in a farm accident on May 3. He had been in a Portland hospital since the acci dent Interment was in Harmony Cemetery near Sheridan. He was born July 2, 1879, at Su perior, Wis., and' had lived here for 21 years. Survivors are his wife, Laura, of Sheridan; three sons, Charles of Elgin, Vance of Klamath Falls and Vera of Bend; three daughters, Mrs. Dora Thomas of Sheridan, Mrs. Waneta Colson of Port Orford. and Mrs. Mona Morey of Salem; two brothers, Clarence of Sheridan and Myron of Tillamook; three sis ters, Mrs. Mamie Davis of Wren, Mrs. Jenny Hostetler of Salem and Mrs. Bertha Branson of Indepen dence; also 17. grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. - mm With Big Profits in FUB FARMING . . .
