WOODBURN Two hundred street signs for the Woodburn Junf ior Chamber of Commerce project of restoring and adding signs to all Woodburn streets are ready to be placed when cedar posts are available, it was reported at the Jaycee meeting Tuesday night May 21 was set as the date for the Teen Age Rodeo," part' of a i nation-wide plan to encourage good driving, with the probable site in Woodburn at Washington School grounds. Students from Hubbard, Gervais and Woodburn will take part. Woodburn Jaycees Chuck Wa gon Breakfast, instituted last year on July 4 will be in the hands of Gary Butcher and Don Burling ham this year. It was also decid ed to exhibit the chuck wagon at the ball park on "Jaycee Night" which will be held during the last week in June, as part of the plan in supporting Woodburn baseball efforts. The group also decided to plan a young people's golf tournament providing sufficient interest is shown among young golfers. Many Woodburn Jaycees have reservations for the state conven tion at Bena May ij-io, wnere they will support Buck Buchanan for District 3 vice-president . Ed Bennett, state jaycee secre tary from Springfield, was pre sent at the meeting here. Girl Scout Meeting Set At Silverton Statesman Newt Serviea - SILVERTON Silverton Girl Scout Association will meet at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, May 12 prior to the PTA . meeting at Eugene Field School. Reports are to be given on the area board training session held at the Methodist Church in Salem recently and attended by Mrs. Jerry Gastineau, district chairman. Mrs. Frank Roemer and Mrs. Al vin Erickson are leaders of the fifth grade troop which is to hold its investiture in May. The troop voted to have an iris crest and to back the proposed Iris Project for Silverton. Mrs. Gastineau is announcing an open house at Camp Smith Creek, Silver Falls State Park on Sunday. The public is invited to bring a lunch. Coffee- and puach will be erved at the camp.. Mrs. Gastineau will accompany a group of adult Girl Scout work ers to Portland Friday to meet Mrs. Roy F. Layton, national Girl Scout president SILVERTON PTA NEWS SILVERTON At an execu tive board meeting of the Silver- ton PTA plans were made to turn over one-half of the treasury bal ance at the end of the year to the Silverton Recreational asso ciation if needed. Reiling, 71, retired Belle PassJ district farmer; died at a rest home here Thursday. : Reiling was born July 8, 1883, at Hillsboro, and married Elvi Walker at Gervais on March 15, 1911.
