The pet Gibbon reported missing and on a rampage in fashionable Bel Air Monday wasn't missing t all, a police investigation showed. The rampage, officers said, apparently . was the fertile imagination of actor Jay Robin Son's press agents. But police admitted it worked well enough to throw some of the Bel Air residents, such as Greer Garson, Arlene Dahl and Fernando Lamas, into a tizzy. They locked their doors and called out their dogs while the 40-pound simian was "on the loose." Investigation showed the Gibbon, quite to the contrary, was on the leash. "There's no question that this is phoney," 'an irritated West Los Angeles police sergeant said. "A Irtri faimri the mnnkpv anrl brought it back to the owner, but he told the youngster to shove off and bring it back later." Police said the Gibbon apparent ly was left with Mrs. Laura Cough liri by actor Robinson Who assert edly told her "keep him until the story breaks..." Officers said one of Mrs. Cough- lin s children touna ine animal ana returned it But he got the "brush hv Pnhinsnn notice aiL so took the Gibbon back to bis own bouse where officers later found it tied up and well fed. Hay Market nominaL Profitakiiig Drops Stocks NEW YORK (-Profit-taking hit the stock market Tuesday, but it was able to weather the unpleas antness with, a fair degree of sta bility. 1 It was the 10th straight advance for the Associated Press average of 60 stocks. That is an unusually long string of gains.! As a result, brokers weren't surprised wkea profit-taking appeared. The Associated Press average of 60 stocks was up 30 cents at $166.30, a high record high ( mark for the sixth straight time. All of that strength came from the railroads which were up $1.50 at a new high since 1929 of $137.60. The industrials and j utilities each was down 20 cents. Taking the edge away from the advance in the average was the fact that more stocks declined than advanced. Out of the 1,222 indi vidual issues traded, 447 advanced and 542 declined with 76 new highs and 8 new lows for the year touched. ! Volume diminished to 2.700,000 shares as compared with 3.080.000 shares traded Monday. Brokers considered .the smaller volume on the fall of a bullish development. Investment Trusts (Zilka.
