Was just browsing through the store, visiting with our merchandise manager, and taking a moment to talk about the new things coming in daily. In fact, it was necessary for me to take this time just to keep up, myself, with all the new arrivals. In the carpet department I found new Archibald Holmes samples among the new ones you may remember my speaking about a carpet with the trade ax iom of "A Bear for Wear"? Well, Random Tex has come in now with four new color ways. A charcoal and light grey blend, a uu ee-iuneu green menu, a nui- brown and beige blend, a cocoa and beige blend. In this tightly woven uncut loop tweed, all-wool to hoot, your floor would be cov ered in practically an impervious armor. This carpet just doesn't show tracks, matting or wear, and for a busy, active family it could n't be more appropriate. All these new colors are in addition to the gold, moss green, blue green,' and cinnamon so popular now. In the drapery department the first thing my eyes lighted upon was the sweetest set of curtains and matching spread we've had in ages.' Made of pink percale and white eyelet embroidered ruffles, the curtains are made in . 1 . 1 vi 1 - . cafe style, the spreads with full skirts and ruffled edgings and darling' pillow shams to match. Along with this group comes the matching eyelet valancing. Pic ture your little daughter's room done with this pink and white eyelet and bane the cafe curtains above the center line of the win dows (perhaps as high as two- thirds of the window), and use only the valance above. This will assure privacy and yet admit light On the mezzanine are the newly arrived lamp shades never have we . had such a selection! Tex tured shades for table lamps and floor lamps. Shades for bedroom lamps and dressing tables. Shades for modern reading lamps. It's public -demand that dictates' the purchasing of our merchandise all over the store, and we try so hard to anticipate the demands fo be one jump ahead of you! The furniture on the first floor is the last word in style, line, and cover. One new sofa from Valentine Seaver is made up in the new linen and chenille weave that is the smartest thing ever. Simple in line, to go in any of today's interiors, smart in tex ture, and with the long wearing value of the linen and chenille yarns. It's lovely! Another sofa I want to men tion, is the modified lawson done in a heavy cotton satin (charcoa) with a pink and green woven-m pattern. This is indicative of the return to the elegant and the dressv fabrics. Perfect cover to be used with French Provincial cherry tables with leather tops. And perfect to fit in with yoqr prized mahogany pieces. Better come in and browse, too! Well look for yon. Mary Thomas Meisel Interior Designer u Roberts Bros.
