Bidding him goodbye at a dinner held at the Polk-Benton district headquarters here are F. M. (Red) Henderson, district warden (left), and Larry Fick with whan Slack worked for many years. Slack holds a plaque showing the areas in the western part of the state in which he has worked as a forester. The plaque was made by Hugh Hayes of the forest ry department. - . LOSES TIP OF FINGER LYONS-Johnny Bridges, young son of Mr. and Mrs. Sam Bridges, lost the tip of the ring finger on his left hand when it was caught in a door at his home recently. Polk Rabbit (hraeretq Hear Talks The Polk County 4-HI rabbit meeting will be held tonight (Thursday) in the Dallas Cham ber of Commerce rooms at S p.m. Fritz Klauss, 'Dallas, and Jim Bishop, Salem, will be in charge. Klauss will discuss feeding and management, and will have sev eral rabbits on hand for judging practices. Klauss asks the club members to bring 'some of their own rabbits for judging and show manship practice. j Bishop will explain how club members ; should show their rab bits. The county and state fairs have showmanship contests, which are similar to the larger animal's contests. CI Jb members will learn the proper handling techniques at this meeting. Some rabbits and five 25-pound sacks of feed will be given away during the evening to the young sters. Club members must be enrolled in a rabbit project prior to the meeting. The club members must prove to the satisfaction of the county 4-H rabbit committee that they have proper knowledge and facilities for rabbit raising in order to be eligible for the prize rabbits. Anyone interested in rabbit pro duction is invited to attend. Shultz, 77, longtime Dallas barber and member of a pioneer family, died at a hospital here Wednesday. Shultz suffered a stroke at his home Friday and was taken to the hospital where he failed to rally. ,.. jj: - Services will be at 2 plm. Fri day at the Bollman Chapel with burial in Dallas Cemetery. Shultz was born in Dallas May 26, 1877, the son of John C Shultz and Mary L. Barnett, early pioneers of the community. H! was married to Ada Allen on Nov. 30, 1898.. . ij When 16 he began barbering and followed the profession until 1951, a year after selling the shop he ran jointly with his 'partner, Emil Febvet.
