March 27, 1955 Democratic Women to Honor Legislative Set at Coffee The Democratic women of Marion County are arranging an in formal coffee for Wednesday afternoon at the North Summer Street home of Mr. and Mrs. Earner O. Berg., Honor guests will be the Democratic women members of the Oregon Legislature and wives of Democratic legislators. Calling hours are from 3 to 6 o'clock. Greeting guests at the door will be Mrs. S. W. Horn, whose hus band is chairman of the Marion County Democratic Central com mittee, and Mrs. Walter O. Lin guist of Aurora, who is vice chairman of the Democratic cen tral committee. Miss Margaret Clark, executive secretary of the state Democratic central committee, and Mrs. How ud Morgan of Monmouth, whose husband is chairman of the state Democratic central committee, will introduce to the receiving line. V In the line will be Mrs. Berg and the four women representa tives, Jtep. Jean Lewis, Rep. Kay Meriweather, Rep. Haurine Neu berger, all of Portland, and Rep. Katherine Musa of The Dalles. NORBERG DALLAS A number of familiar faces have been in Dallas this week after being away for a time Spring vacation from various col leges and universities made the difference. . Coming from Stanford, where he is a sophomore engineering students, was Johnny Kitzmiller, son of Mr. and Mrs. John W. Kitzmiller. , Mary Gerlinger, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Gerlinger Jr., went first to Seattle and Spokane with University of Oregon friends, where she was an attendant at the wedding of Miss Shirley Bier and Dave Lowe on Tuesday. Among Oregon Staters home for the holiday period were Sidney Hodgson, son of Mrs. Velma Hodg son; Bill Trent, son of the C. E. Trents; Joyce and Phyllis Ruiter, daughters of the Clinton Ruiters; James Hodges, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Hodges; Gary Jarman, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ardell Jar man: Katherine Mercer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Aaron Mercer; Wayne Fleming, son of Miv and Mrs. Howard Fleming, and Don Coote, son of Mr. and Mrs. Al Coote. Visit in California Springtime in the south is the choice of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Muir, who left by plane for Los Angeles the first of the week. They are visiting Mr. and Mrs. Tracy Savery, sister and brother-in-law of Mrs. Muir, and plan to be gone about two weeks. A farewell dinner party was jiven for the Muirs . at the home of the A. M. Tillkun Sports Dance The Tillicum Club will hold its last dance of the season Saturday night, April 2 at the Marion Hotel. This will be a sports dance with a buffet dinner served preceding dancing. Harry Weseley and his orchestra will provide the dance music. Election of officers will take place during the evening. Third District to Convene Here Wednesday, 25th Anniversary Silver anniversary of the Third District, Oregon Federation of Women's Clubs will be celebrated at the annual convention to be held on Wednesday, March 30. Co-hostesses for the all-day session will be members of the Salem Woman's Club and the Salem Junior Woman's Club. The district, which was first organized at a meeting in Salem in 1930, includes 52 federated clubs. The meetings and noon luncheon will be held at the First Metho dist Church with Mrs. Vera Van Horn of Portland, the district pres ident, presiding. A coffee hour and registration will be held in the Carrier Room between 8 and 9 a. m. The open ing session in the church sanctuary is slated for 9 a. m. with Dr. Brooks Moore giving the invoca tion. A headress of veil. She carried a bouquet of white iridescent sequins and seed pearls rose and lily-of-the-valley. Walk Before the Bride Three attendants preceded the bride to the altar. Mrs. Amn Knode. the honor matron, wore a yellow gown of nylon tulle and satin with . bouffant tiered skirt and tulle stole. The bridesmaids. Miss Patricia Sebastian and Miss Gladvs Koehn. fore similar gowns. only of orchid. The attendants aU wore matching floral headdresses and carried duster bouquets oT yellow roses and snapdragons tied with velkm and violet nooon. Murray Jensen stood with; his brother as best man. Seating the guests were James Lytle. Carl Standley, Walter Stauffacher -and Kenneth Holmes. - ' For her daughter's nuptials Mrs. Keeker chose a desert rose gown with pleated nylon net skirt and lace bodice with powder blue ac cessories. She pinned a corsage of white azaleas to her gown. Mrs Jensen attended her son's mar riace in a wedgewood blue crystal lette gown with blue and white accessories. Her Dowers were white azaleas. Greet Gnests at Reception The newlyweds greeted their guests at a reception in the fire side room. Pouring were Mrs. Theodore Gottschalk. Mrs. Law rence Shrake and Mrs. William Fischer. Mrs. Sophie Mahrt, , the bride's grandmother, and Mrs. H W. Gross, cut the cake. Assisting were Misses Lorraine Saul, Lorna Robertson, Lolita Taylor, LaVona Shrake, Mesdames Jason Ewing, Edwin Poppitz, the bride's sister, Elmer Peterson, George Porter and Donald .Davis. .When the couple left on their honeymoon along the Oregon coast the new Mrs. Jensen wore a beige suit with fiesta pink hat and gloves panama shoes and purse. She pinned a corsage of lily-of-the-valley and stephanotis to her ensemble. After April 10 the newlyweds will be at home in Salem at 2265 Breyman Avenue. Antique Show Slated March 30 and 31 are the dates of the annual antique show and sale, sponsored by Evangeline Star Club, Order of the' Eastern Star, Eugene. The show will be held in the downtown Masonic. Temple at 10th and Olive Streets, from 11:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. each day. Lun cheon will be served beginning at 11:30, and dinner beginning at 3:30 daily, by the Women of the Star Club. Dealers from Oregon, Washington and California will be there "with their best collections, as will four local dealers.
