Statesman Newi Service FOUR CORtfERS Trinity Methodist Church, located at 590 S. Elma Ave., in Four Corners, will open its doors for the first service Sunday. This congregation had its be ginning on June 27, 1954, in the Four Corners Community hall where 51 persons gathered to hear Dr. Arthur H. Maynard of Miami, Fla., and Dr. George G. Roseberry, district superintendent of the Methodist Conference for this area, conduct the service. From that nucleus the member ship has grown to 183 with a full time religious program for all ages. The new church has a seat ing capacity for 300. The Sunday schedule will begin Salem Churches Sermon Topic To Continue Lenten Theme "What Sort of Man Is This?" will be the fourth in a series of Lenten sermons at the 11 o'clock worship Sunday at First Congre gational Church, by Dr. Julian J. Keiser, minister. with church school at 9:45; wor ship at 11 a.m. The evening serv ices will include Methodist Youth Fellowship at 6 p.m., worship at 7:30 p.m. A feature of the evening service will be a male quartette and the sermon topic will be "How to Sin and Enjoy It." The Rev. Joe Andrew Harding assumed the pastorate of the church on Aug. 1, 1954. Sunday Night Services to Include Film "No Greater Power," a film presenting the story of Zaccheus, will be the basis of the Lenten Sunday evening service at Knight Memorial Congregational Church at 7:30. This service, sponsored by the Deacons and Deaconesses of the church, will also include a song service, meditation by the minis ter, the Rev. Louis E. White, and a social hour to which all are in vited. At the 11 o'clock service Sun day morning the minister will Keizer Church Plans Week Of Meetings KEIZER Beginning Sunday Keizer Church of Christ will hold a one-week series of gospel meet ings in a special community-wide gospel campaign. -The Rev. Choice L. Bryant, evangelist of the Northwest will speak each evening at 8 o'clock. Mr. and Bryant is a wall known evangelist of the Churches of Christ of this area, having served as minister of the Central Church of Christ in Salem for more than two years. He formerly was with churches of Christ in Yuma, Ari zona and Calif. During the last year he has been employed as an area Evangelist of the Northwest, conducting special meetings throughout the states of Oregon, Washington, California and Idaho. Statesman, Salem, Ore., Saturday, Mar. 19, 1955 (Sec. 1-7 Mission Study To Highlight Week Service A study of foreign missions is being emphasized in the program of Grace Lutheran Church during March and will be marked with the conducting of two mission services during the week. On S u n d a y evening at 7:30 there will be a mission film pro gram sponsored by the Women's Missionary Society and Grace Guild. Several ladies will take part, describing the work on the various fields supported by the Evangelical Lutheran Church. Missions are supported in Japan, Madagascar, South Africa, the Sudan, Columbia and China. Refreshments will follow the program wit proceeds from the free-will offering designated for the mission work of the mission societies. On Wednesday evening at 8 o'clock Miss Bernice Boyum, mis sionary to Japan, will speak at a mission rally sponsored by young people of Trinity and Immanuel Lutheran churches of Silverton and Grace Lutheran of Salem. The rally will be held at Grace Lutheran Church. Miss Boyum is on furlough an dis making a tour of the west coast to promote in-! terest in the Lutheran missions in Japan. Annual Outdoor Trip Planned By Unitarians Salem Unitarian Fellowship Church School will meet at 10:15 Sunday morning for an annual field trip to explore the beauties of spring. Roy Austin of Fellowship at 6:30 p.m. South Salem Church Nears Completion The congregation of South Salem Church of the Nazarcne is anticipating an early move into the main sanctuary now nearing completion at 565 E. Madrona Ave. Workmen are Duttinc the finishing touches on the flooring! and wainscoating. Building Chairman John Has kins reports that the new pews will be installed around the first of April. The pews are being cus tomed built by the DeGraffe Cabinet Works in DalUis, a firm that has supplied pews lor several churches in the Salem area. The congregation is currently worshipping in the lower audi torium of the church building. Missionary to Africa Plans Talk in Salem The Rev. Martin Eadelman, mis sionary to the Senefou peoples of French West Africa, will speak at the mid-week prayer service of the First Baptist church at 7:30 p. m. on Wednesday. The Rev. Eadelman, who is one of the missionaries supported by the Salem church, was among the first missionaries . to reach the Senefou tribes. During his stay he helped to reduce the language of the people to writing, a task that had not been attempted un til that time. The Junior Crusader Choir, un der the direction of Misses Sandra McCabe and Amy Jo Blomberg will sing at the evening service Sunday.
