The Oregon firm charges that
fluorine-treated food pellets from
Kellogg kilted 500 of its animals.
William R. Cox, former president
of the chinchilla concern, testified
Tuesday that loss of the animals
and harmful effects on rabbits
forced his company out of business.
However, Kellogg spokesmen
said the complaint was the only
one they have received and that
the pellets still are being sold to

IrrigationDam
Proposed on
Gear Creek
WASHINGTON to Rep. Coon
(ri-Ore) has asked Congress to
authorize a half-million dollar
irrigation project near Maupin,
Ore. '
To irrigate about 1000 acres on
Juniper Flat, it would be known
as the WapiniUa Project, Juniper
Division, and would include a
rock-HQ dam and reservoir on the
headwaters of - Clear Creek, a
tributary of the White River.
Storage capacity of approxi
mately 12,000 acre feet would be
provided through a reservoir to
enlarge Clear Lake- t
The project, already recom
mended by the Bureau o f
Reclamation, would cost an esti
mated $518,000 with additional
recreational facilities costing an
other $34,870. Water users would
repay all but the recreational costs
over a period of 40 years.
Linfield College
Designated CD
Emergency Point
McMTNNVTLLE. Ore. (UP)
Linfield College would be immedi
ately converted into an admims
tration center for the entire 'staff
of the Oregon Civil Defense Emer
gency Welfare Service in advent
of enemy attack in the Northwest,
the CD announced Wednesday.
Dr. Harry L. Dillin, college
president,: said the campus was
located outside the probable dam
age area. If an attack occurred
in Portland, the college would be
the focal point for directing wel
fare centers to be set up in north
western Oregon.
