Ness, 58, will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. from Trin ity Lutheran Church with the Sk in an Funeral home in charge. Bur ial will be in Evans Valley Ceme tery near Silverton. Mrs. Ness was born in Evans Valley, named for her parents, April 29, 1895. died at the Silver ton Hospital late Saturday .night where she had been confined for the past week following a brain hemmorhage. She was an accomp lished pianist. . Survivors are the widower. Sel mer Ness; sons. Captain Richard Ness of Logan. Utah; Victor and Kenneth Ness at home; daughters, Mrs. Geraldtne Yielding and Mrs. Eleanor Torgerson both of Silver ton: three grandchildren; a sister. Mrs. Oliver Holman. Johnny Agee arrived home on leave from the U.S. Navy after docking at Long Beach. Calif. PFC. Donald Cranfill visited his mother. Mrs. John Fry, on his way to Fort Lewis. Wash., where he had been transferred from Fort Ord. Joe A. Majors is home on fur lough from the Airforce to see his parents in Grand Ronde. He has been transferred from Low ery AFB in Colorado to Castle AFB Calif. Miss Viola Dennis left last week for Denver to attend the- Univer sity for her masters degree in library science. , The. N. Moore, Mrs. Robert Mulder and Mrs. Les ter Colgan. The conferences are held under the sponsorship of the local Civic Club. Sixteen children were examined and several' immunizations shots and vaccinations were given. The next conferences are sched uled for July 15 and August 19. Dr. Dowell will not be present but the nurse will be at the City Hall from 9 to 9:30 on those dates to com plete the series of shots which have been started. Appointments may be made for the first fall con ference to be held on Sept. 16, by calling Mrs. Lester Colgan, Monmouth-Independence chairman. Lyons Guest Will Study In Honolulu Statesman News Service LYONS Miss Carol Sletto, a teacher at Vancouver, Wash, spent several days with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Sletto, Lyons Route one, before leaving Wednesday to attend summer school la Honolulu. Robert Jobe has returned from Pasadena, Calif., where he visited his son and wife. Mrs. Merwin Knox, Sandra, Pat and Mike and Jackie Bickett are visiting in Corcoran, Calif, at the home of Mrs. Knox's sister, Mrs. P. J. Henderson. Dana Wilson has been at Fron tier Range, Buna Vesta, Colo. Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Stevens and her mother, Mrs. Viola Zander of Salem, spent last weekend in Se attle, where they attended the wedding of Miss Margaret Zander, Issaquah, Wash, and Thomas Chit wood, Seattle. Miss' Zander is a niece of Mrs. Stevens and grand daughter of Mrs. Zander. Mr. and Mrs. Orville Britton and children have moved from Lyons to Gates. Britton owns and oper ates a saw shop near Gates. Mr. and Mrs. Sheldon Titus of Seattle visited Mrs. Sheldon's par ents, Mr. and Mrs. George Huff man, last weekend. Mr. and Mrs. Vernon James and sons Bin, Dick and Harold, have returned home after a 10-day trip to Eureka. The pre-view is sponsored here by the Brotherhood in a study of possibilities of using television in furthering the Christian faith. The film to be shown is an actu al Christian experience drama tized by a group of Hollywood ac tors in addition to the personal appearance of the actual person involved coming as the climax at the end. This is the first of a proposed series of television programs which the Evangelical Lutheran Church, in which Trinity is affili ated, is discussing sponsoring.
