He was born in Brunnen. Switzer land. Jan 20. 1879. one of a family o 1 which came to this country In 1902. Eaton settled at Corbett. Ore . with a dairy farm, and soon after was married in 1923 to Frances Woftel. They came to Mt. Angel fix years ago. Surviving ara the widow; son. Anton Eaton. Corbett; two daugh ters, Mrs. Mane Steiner. Tilla mook, and Mrs. Frances Sutter. Mt. Angel; nine grandchildren. Recitation of the rosary is at 8 p m. Friday at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Requiem high ma is set for lam. Saturday in the church, followed by interment at Calvary Cemetery under direction of Unger Funeral Home. Hoist ALBANY Final rites for John ELmer Hoist. 88, former Linn County bridge engineer who died early Wednesday, will be held at 2 p.m.. Friday at the Fisher Fu neral home, with The Rev. Gordon Jaffe officiating. Burial will be in Sandridge Cemetery. Hoist was born July 6. 1883, in Sweden, and came to the Unit ed States when he was IS. He moved to Albany from Ewan. Wash., in 1922. He began work for the county in 1924 and seven years Later was named bridge en gineer. He continued in that capacity for 25 year, recently retiring due o ill health. Hoist married Vida E. Olsen Dec 24. 1911, at Plain view. She urvtrts, as do f oar children and aix grandchildren. He vu mem ber of the Albany ZHs Lodge. and of two other monks receiving lesser orders, the Rev. Robert Tomisser, who received the order of subdeacon and Mr. Augustine L . who receiNed minor orders. Assistant to the archbishop at the pontifical high mass was the Rev Martin Pollard, prior of ML Angel Abbey. Louise Wilt Quits Stayton Hosbital Post tat una News Servtea STAYTON Resignation of Mr. Louise WDt aa superintendent of Santiam Memorial Hospital was disclosed here Thursday. Mrs. Wilt will leave the hospital effective July 1. She was the first superintendent of Santiam Me morial Hospital, coming here from a Salem Hospital over a year ago before the hospital here opened. Mrs. Wilt said she was resign ing for personal reasons and planned to "take a rest". The board of directors has not selected her successor.
