Rural School Budget Wins Iik Linn Co. Statesman Newt Service ALBANY Linn County's rural school budget was approved by 599 to 71. County School Sup't. W. H. Dolymer announced Tuesday. Voting was conducted last week but results' were not totaled un til Tuesday when the vote was canvassed. Dolymer said only three districts voted against the budget. They were Midway, Tall man and Sand Ridge Voting concerned the $309,155 portion of the budget in excess of legal limitations. Wreck Victim Still Critical Statesman News Service SILVERTON Frank Lowe. Mo lalla, who was brought to the Srlverton Hospital Monday and later transferred to the Good Sa maritan Hospital in PorUand, re mained unconscious late Tuesday, and hospital authorities there re ported that his condition was still considered critical. Lowe was injured in a collision involving his car and a logging truck near Molalla noon Monday. Also injured was Frank Lewis, Molalla. who is still at the Silver ton Hospital. Lewis was reported "improving'' Tuesday. Van Kberle. 42. Mt. Angel, was also reported "showing improve ment" and his condition was said to be "good'' by Silverton Hospi tal authorities late Tuesday. Eb erle and his wife were vacation ing in California when he became ilL Cougar Shot Near Valsetz Statesman News Service MONMOUTH A female cou gar was killed in Polk County Tuesday. Jack Van of Dallas spotted the cougar's tracks while he was op erating a road grader on Brown's Mountain, between Falls City and Valsetx. Van contacted Fred Auer of this area who went to the scene with his pack of six Red FJone hounds. They picked up the trail at the mountain. The hounds treed the cougar after a 300-yard chase and she was shot. She had been feasting on a deer when the hounds ap proached. The cougar was sis feet long from "tip to tip" and was esti mated to be two years old. Other men who joined Auer for the hunt were Arlo Allen and Lawrence Christensen.
