Miss Os wald accompanied Miss Schutz to Salem and will remain until the first of June. At WUlamm& Salem Coeds Are Given Honors By JULIE MELLOR Statesman Correspondent With the advent of warm weath er continuing, seventy-five mem bers of the senior class at Wil lamette university left yesterday for their traditional weekend beach trip. They will return Sun day for Baccalaureate services at the First Methodist church. Judi Wood of Salen. was elected president of Cap and Gown, sen ior women's honorary, for the coming year. Other officers in clude vice president, Liz Loving of Portland: recording secretary, Judy Fullager of Portland; cor responding secretary, Marie De Harpport of Portland : treasurer, Rosie Weaver of Grants Pass: and historian, Julie Mellor of Port land. The annual Sigma Alpha Epsi lon province conference will be held in Portland in June this year, with Willamette's chapter president. Loyal Howard of Sa lem, representing his group. To Attend Conventions National conventions are in the offing, too. with Gail Updike of Portland and Sophie Polales of Salem, travelling to Sun Valley Idaho, for the Delta Gamma con clave. Liz Loving of Portland, will go to North Carolina in June for the Chi Omega convention, and Bar bara Jackson of Redondo Beach, Calif., will represent her chapter at the Pi Beta Phi convention in Miami Beach, Fla. Pi Gamma Mu, national social science honorary, has selected five women for membership. New initiates will be Nancy Doughton and Mary Campbell of Salem: Margie Leonard of Silverton: and Daline Montag and Julie Mellor of Portland. Jane N'otson Engaged A beach theme I with seashells engraved with their names an nounced the engagement of Jane Notson of Portland to Clifford Gregg of Upland, Calif., to mem bers of the Pi Beta Phi house. An August wedding is planned, after which the couple will be living in Colorado, where Mr. Gregg is stationed with the army. Amy Girod of Salem was se lected as Associated Women Stu dents choice for coed of the month of May, this week. Selected because of her out standing leadership and interest in campus affairs. Miss Girod is majoring in music, and is a mem ber of Beta Alpha Gamma. Mu Phi Epsilon. and was accom panist for her class for two years in Freshman Glee. Bob McConville of Salem, was elected president of Canterbury Club, the Episcopal young peo ple's group, for the coming year. f C7 -1 Itied warded to lti ruda cw rf . rf Mi A U fT, Salem Altrusa Club received two membership trophies at the 10th district confer ence held last weekend at the Empress Hotel in Victoria, B. C. Left to right are Mrs. Lois Keeney, retiring president of Altrusa, Miss Cora Paynter, membership chairman, and Miss Arline Sholseth, newly elected president. The larger trophy was awarded for high est per cent increase in membership in the 10th district and the other trophy went to the Salem club for having the largest number of new members" of any club in the dis trict. Trelstad was elected president of the Marion-Polk County Medical Auxiliary for the ensuing year at the Tuesday night meeting of the group at the home of the retiring president, Mrs. Lynn Hammerstad. Other officers elected to serve with Mrs. Trelstad are Mrs. Ma rens Maltby, president-elect; Mrs. Harold Poole, vice-president; Mrs. George V. Squire, secretary-; and Mrs. Thad Moreland, treasurer. This was the last meeting of the group until fall. A picnic sup per was served to over 50 mem bers. The group voted to sponsor a nurse scholarship for a girl at the. University of Oregon Medical School of Nursing. The Grace Lutheran Women's Missionary Society will hold a baked food sale, featuring lefse and Scandinavian pastries, at the Good Housekeeping Co., 467 Court St, on Saturday, May 22, beginning at 10 a.m. Dance at YW Tonight Senior high students will dance under the instruction of Clyde Cha-ters at the YWCA all-school dance tonight from 8-11 p.m. The non-date dance will include inixers and square dances plus social dancing. The Bluebirds are all third graders and it will be the first train trip for most of them.
