Tomer The benefit dinner for the community building fund will start at 5 p.m. Friday at the grade school. Serving will continue until p.m. Entertainment will follow, and sponsoring club are arrang ing booths. Si vert on The Square Dance Jamboree at Silverton Armory Fridav will start at 8:30 p.m. The Verbeck Orchestra will play. All square dancers are welcome. Mill City The fire department was called out about nine a.m. Wednesday by a chimney fie at the home of Cleve Davis. No dam age was reported. Pioneer Lp The Sewing Club met Tuesday- at the Community Hall to make May Baskets that can he filled with flowers and de livered to the Bartell Hospital in Dallas on Saturday. Oakdale The Spoon and Thimble 4H Club met Tuesday night to practice songs and pre pare a model meeting to be pre sented for Community Club at the ichool house Friday evening. Mt. Angel The Boy Scout troop will have an all-day outing at the L. D. Lenon ranch on Butte Creek Saturday. All scouts wish ing to make the trip should as semble at the city hall by 10 a m. The boys are to return home by I p.m. Church Events Top the News From Hopewell Uttiman N'w Srvtr HOPEWELL The Sunday School Council of the Hopewell Evangelical United Brethren Church is planning to cr duct a daily vacation Bible School in June. Ninety -eight mothers and daughters attended the Mother DauKhter banquet at Hopewell Evangelical United Brethren Church Monday evening. Pink and vellow was the color scheme used" with tulips decorating each table. A chicken dinner was serv ed by men and boys of the com munity. The program including invoca tion bv Mrs. N. O. Pearse; read ings by Mrs. John Kotka, Ellen Taskinen, Mrs. Art Reed and Mrs. Frank Westerhouse; a vocal solo bv Carol Hersha accompanied by Mrs Clen Harris, accordian solos bv Norm Jean Stephens and Sal lv Snoop of Albany, the Girl's Triple Trio of the A li High School and a solo by Ronald Smith of Amity.
