Cceds Reveal Betrothals On Campus Several betrothals were re vealed on the Willamette Univer sity Campus the past week. The engagement of Miss Sally Jo Grimm and Rob Scheaffer was told at an Easter egg hunt at the Pi Beta Phi house Sunday evening The wedding is set for August 23 in Vancouver, Wash., where they both live. Miss Grimm, a junior at Wil lamette, is a guide at the State Capitol. She was Varsity Queen, a member of the Sigma Chi Sweetheart Court, Homecoming hostess, Convocations Board sec retary' and recording secretary of Pi Phi. Mr. Schaeffer is a junior at the Willamette law school and is a member of Phi Delta Theta. WisnomJoseph Announced jointly at the Uni versity of Oregon and Willamette was the engagement of Miss Ruth Joseph of Burley, Idaho to David Wisnom of San Mateo, Calif. iiss Joseph attended Willam ette for two j ears, where she was a member of Chi Omega. She was a member of the rally squad, Beta Alpha Gamma. Alpha Lamb da Delta, and secretary of her class. She is now president of her sorority at Oregon and is majoring in speech therapy. Mr. Wisnom is a junior mem ber of Phi Delta Theta, major ing in business administration. He also served as president of his class. No date has been set for the wedding. "Moon Mist" is the theme of Chi, Omega's annual spring formal to be held tonight from 9 to 12 o'clock at the Labor Temple. Music will be furnished by Glenn Benner's band. A smorgasbord dinner will be featured at Beta Theta Pi's for mal house dance, "Beta Chalet," to be held at the chapter house Saturday night from 7 o'clock to midnight. Dancing will be to the music of Wayne Meusey and his orchestra. Sigma Chi members and their dotes will attend the costume dance, "Pirate s Paradise," at the chapter house Saturday evening from 9 to 12 o'clock. The getting will be in a pirates' den, filled with treasures, while couples will be dressed in the garb of the days when pirates roamed the seas. The following day the Sigs will journey to Neskowin for a beach party to complete the annual weekend. Newly elected officers of Phi Beta Sigma, freshman men's scholastic honrary, are president, John Edmundson of Hood River; vice president. Don Agnew of Salem: secretary, Eldon Erick son of Gresham; and treasurer, Hugh Armstrong of Newberg. Salem Coed Elected Arda Lien of Salem was elect ed president of Alpha Lambda Delta, freshman women's scholar fhip honorary. Assisting her will be vice president. Pi Beta Phi will be celebrating its 88th birthday on April 20 and is planning a joint party with the two active chapters at Oregon State College and the University of Oregon. Paul Johnson of Albany was pledged to Phi Delta Theta this week. Sigma Alpha Epsilon members and pledges will play hosts to their parents for the second an nual Parents Day Sunday. After group attendance at church, the outstanding freshman and senior awards will be presented and the Mothers' Club $100 scholarship recipient will be announced. Dean Robert Gregg will be guest speaker at the banquet, which will follow the awards. Hargreaves is a junior religion philosophy major and is presi dent of intcrfaith council in Unesco. No date has been set for the wedding. Capitol At Oregon Duck Preview To Attract Seniors By MARCIA WEBB Statesman Correspondent EUGENE "Duck Preview, 1954" is taking the spotlight this week and over 1,500 high school seniors are expected to be on campus for a preview of college life. Gloria Stolk is advertising for the variety show to be held Friday night after the future "Oregonites" have visited the many exhibits in the different de partments of the University. Held in conjunction with Duck Preview is the World Student Service Fund drive. Bob Haiel was nominated for the "Ugly Man" contestant. The semi-finalists will be named Friday and will be determined by the amount of money for the drive each contest ant has collected in his name. Duck Previewers will meet with the advisors of departments in which they are interested on Sat urday morning when there is also an orientation assembly and tours cf the campus. The activities of the afternoon will include a water show by, the Amphibians (mem bers of the women's swimming honorary), a baseball game be tween the Ducks and the Salem Senators, and a track meet with the Washington State Cougars. A semi-formal dance Saturday night will conclude the university planned program for the visitors, but many of the living organiza tions are inviting their guests to Sunday dinner. Regular ladies day play is sched uled each Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. New Chapter Entertained The first regular business meet ing of the newly organized Gamma Gamma Chapter of Epsilon Sigma Alpha was held Tuesday evening at the home of Mrs. Robert Sand Mrs. Deryl Currie of Beta Sigma Chapter presented Mrs. Thomas Elliot with her pledge pin. Com mittee chairmen have been named including Miss lone Persson, par liamentarian; Mrs. Alvin Hoerauf. historian: Miss Lillie Yee. Jonquil Girl; Mrs. David Kowitz, ways and means; Mrs. Gerald Bigler, social; Mrs. Thomas Elliot, pub licity. Mrs. Robert Sandstrom was named delegate to the state con vention in La Grande on April 24. The next meeting for Gamma Gamma Chapter will be held on May A at the home of Mrs. Rollin Hammett by Miss Avara Gar barino. John Templeton, and Pat Walters were in a car parade honoring one of the finalists for Junior Week end queen. Roger Middleton, as song leader of the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity, has already started his men practicing for the ' All-Campus Sing" to be held that weekend. Eunice Peckenpaugh was elect ed secretary of Carson Hall. She is also one of the ten finalists in the Oregon Press Photographers' contest.
