To Fete Miss Hartwell Miss Jean Hartwell, June bride elect of Edward Knapp, will be complimented at a pre-nuptial shower Tuesday night when Mrs. Floyd Bowers and Mrs. Hugh Morrow entertain at the former's North 15th Street home. Twenty-four guests have been bidden to fete the bride-to-be in cluding the mothers of the enga ged duo, Mrs. E. T. Hartwell and Mrs. Gardner Knapp. A kitchen shower will honor the future Mrs. Knapp and a late supper will be served by the hostesses following an informal evening. Bouquets of spring blossoms and flowers will provide the decorative note. Miss Hartwell and her fiance are home from their studies at I'omona College for the spring vacation. Mr. Knapp will gradu ate from Pomona in June and their wedding will be an event of June 27. Party for Mrs. Carter Mrs. Robert DeArmond will en tertain at -her North 23rd street home Wednesday night for the pleasure of Mrs. Lester Carter. Sixteen of the honor guest's friends have been bidden to an evening of bridge with a late sup per following. The group will fete Mrs. Carter with a shower for her two week's old daughter, Susan. Dances Slated For Coming Weekend Three dancing clubs have slat ed parties for the coming week end. Friday night members of the Wisteria Club will hold their monthly semi-formal dance at the Veterans Hall between 9 and 1J o'clock. Mr. and Mrs. Carlisle Roberts will head the directorate for the evening, assisted by Mr. and .Mrs. E. A. Carleton, Mr. and Mrs. Dayle Jory, Mr. and Mrs. H. J. Mohr Jr., Mr. and Mrs. Del Rams dell, and Dr. and Mrs. Kenneth W. Morris. Waverly Dance The Waverly Club will hold its last formal dance of the season Saturday night at the Senator Hotel's Capital Room. A sports dance is planned for later in the season. There will be election of officers during the evening. Harry Wesely's orchestra will play for dancing following the 8:30 buffet dinner. The social hour will begin at 7:30 o'clock. Mr. and Mrs. Ervin Potter are chair men of the decorating commit tee, assisted by Mr. and Mrs. Roy Ferris and Mr. and Mrs. Thomas C. Stacer. Cama Clab Cams Club members- will dance Saturday night at the Knights of Columbus Hall between IS and 1 o'clock. Urs Wolfer and his or chestra will play for dancing. Election of officers will take place during the evening. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Enyeart will be on the door and the snack bar committee includes Mr. and Mrs. Charles Dunn, chairmen, the Enyearts and Mr. and Mrs. Carl Fejfar. Cards will be in play following the regular meeting and lunch eon. The committee includes Mrs. Ralph Solum, Mrs. James Thornton and Mrs. Roy Green. The league usually meets on Tuesday, but changed the day this month due to the regular fashion luncheon at the Marion HoteL ' Of interest to club women in Sa lem and the Willamette Valley is the annual spring convention of the Third District of the Oregon- Federation of Women's Clubs to be held in Forest Grove on Thurs day, April' I. Mrs. George RosS- raan of Salem is the district presi dent and will conduct the all-day session. Highlight of the meeting will be the annual election of of ficers. Hostess clubs are the Forest Grove Woman's Club, Forest Grove Junior Woman's Club and the Pacific Progress Club of For est Grove. Reservations are in charge of Mrs. Robert E. Lee, 1735 17th Ave., Forest Grove and luncheon reservations must be sent by Tuesday. Sessions will open at 9 a.m. with registration beginning at 8 a.m. The coffee hour will be from 8 to 1:40 a.m. Club presidents in the district will give their annual reports and following the report of the nominating committee there will be election of officers. Hutchinson, Mill City, and Mrs. George Rossman, Salem, di rectors. Guest speakers for the session will be Mrs. Marion T. Weather ford, Arlington, president of the Oregon Federation of Women's Clubs, and Dr. Charles J. Arm strong, new president of Pacific University at Forest Grove, who will be the main speaker of the day. Mrs. Rossman has asked Mrs. Weatherford to install the new officers. Among the Salem women plan ning to attend the convention art Pi Phi Founder's Day Mrs. George Juba is arranging the Founder's Day program for the Pi Beta Phi alumnae meeting Thursday night at the country home of Mrs Cornelitfs Bateson at Pratum. Gardeners to Hear Talk on Hydrangeas In the morning there will be Paul D. Brown of the Charles B, Lilly Co. will be down from Seattle' to speak to members of the Salem Garden Club Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Mr. Brown has chosen "Hydrangeas" for the subject of his talk. There will be a plant and bulb sale and a flower exhibit by members. The April Fool motif will be stressed in the theme of the floral decorations for Che day. Byrd. co-chairman. Membership dues are still being accepted and checks or money may be sent to Mrs. Byrd. It is the hope of the mem bership committee to wind up the drive in the next few weeks.
