10 (Ssc 1) Statesman, Saltm, Orw Sunw March 14, 1954 Judge to Rule On Thomson CORVALLIS Ml Judge Fred McHenry will decide next week whether to grant a new trial to Richard Thomson, Newport auto dealer, who has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for attempting to kill his partner. James Meuler. Arguments were presented here Saturday. Thomson's attorney, Mark Weatherford, argued that the court was' in error in permit in j; during, the trial reference to a plea of guilty which Thomson made, then withdrew. William Hollen, Lincoln County district attorney ,who prosecuted the case, argued that this and any other disputable evidence could have been attacked during the trial if the defense had so wished.
