IS. 1854 (Sec 21US i NYC Leader In Advance For Market NEW YORK I New York Central and a handful of strong leaders.' together with a late flurry of buying in aircrafts, boosted the stock market ahead Friday. New York Central dominated trading with a gain of Vm at 254 with business in that one stock amounting to nearly 11 Vi per cent of all of the trading done on the New York stock exchange Friday. The Associated Press average of CO stocks advanced 40 cents to a new recovery high of $114.90. only 11.40 under the 1953-54 peak es tablished in early January of last year. That top in turn is the high est since mid-1930. The average was boosted by a gain of 80 cents in the industrial component, 30 cents in railroads and 10 cents in utilities. Both the industrial and utility components ofthe average were at new highs -tor 1953-54. The market was a narrow af; fairwith only 1,097 individual is sues traded, the least in the past month. There were 472 gainers and 312 losers in the list with 44 new highs and 1 new low for 1953-54. Volume amounted to 1,730,000 shares as compared with 1,860,000 shares traded Thursday.
