    Moat Loaf With
Bariarias on Menu
To make a particularly inter
esting meat loaf meal, you can
serve whole baked bananas as a
vegetable with banana meat loaf.
Bake them Tight with the meat
loaf as directed in the recipe.
Cooked bananas have a different
honey-like flavor your family will
enjoy. And bananas, with their
abundant Titamine and minerals,
and their a trick food energy,
make an important , addition to
winter meals.-
' BANANA MEAT LOAF
1 pound ground raw beef
1 tablespoon chopped onion
" 1 tablespoon salt -
, Yi teaspoon pepper
1 cap soft bread crumbs
cup mashed firm bananas
(1 to 2 bananas)
Vt teaspoon dry mustard
Use all-yellow or slightly green
tipped bananas. Mix together, on
ion, salt, pepper and crumbs.
Combine bananas and mustard.
Add to meat mixture and mix
welL Form mixture into a loaf
and place into a well-greased bak
ing pan (8Mix4ttx3 inches). Bake f
in a moderate oven (350 r.)
about 1 hour, or until loaf is
done. Four to six servings.
Baked bananas as an accompan
iment baked in the pan with the
meat loaf, add an etxra, differ
ent, delightful flavor. Peel the
bananas, brush them with melted
butter and sprinkle lightly with
salt Place them into the pan
about 15 minutes before the meat
is done. Arrange the baked ba
nanas on a hot platter around the
meat loaf. i

Shrimpl Dressing
The winter crop of avocados is
on the market Cut buttery-ripe
avocados into halves lengthwise
and fill with curried shrimp.
Place in a slow oven and bake 15
minutes to j heat .the Calavo
through. Serve with crisp golden
brown latticed potatoes.

time for softening. A firm avoca

5 days, at room temperature, to
become soft enough for eating.

SUNNY LOAF CAKE
1 cup seedless raisins
1 cup sugar
cup shortening
1 K cup egg yolks (about A yolks)
cup milk
1 cups flour
IVt teaspoons baking powder
7 teaspoon salt
1. teaspoon grated lemon rind
' Cover raisins with water and boil
I minutes. Drain and chop. Cream
together sugar and shortening. Add
beaten egg . yolks and milk. Sift
together flour, baking powder and
salt. Add to first mixture with
raisins and lemon rind. Pour into
a greased loaf pan (8V xiViXlVx
inches). Bake in a moderate oven
(350 degrees) about 30 minutes.
Makes 1 loaf cake.
FLAVOR NOTE

Try adding caraway seeds to
cream-style cottage cheese to use
as a spread for crackers or large
potato chips. A half teaspoon of
the seeds will be about right for
an 8-ounce; container of the
cheese. ti

Crispy celery gets even crisper
if you stand it for at least one
1 half hour in cold water to which
you've added sugar Use one
I teaspoon of sugar to each quart
of cold water.

working with scissors, wrap ad
hesive tape around the scissors
handle for a soft covering. Wrap
the tape in neat spirals for a
comfortable grip.

Here's a salty idea for getting
sticky starch off the bottom of
your iron. A washing clinic claims
ironing over a piece of brown
paper on which a little salt has
been sprinkled will do the trick.

To make Melba toast, cut bread
into thin slices and then into
halves. Dry in a slow oven. Serve

vegetable juices and soups or salads.

or dripping. Don't coat the wicks,
of course, and let the candles dry
in candle-holders before lighting.
