Oregon Road Engineers Set Goals at Meet Division engineers of the state highway department and their assistants, met in Salem Thurs day for their annual conference. Purpose of the conference, State Highway Engineer R. H. Baldock said, was to iron out any possible misunderstandings and continue a smooth-operating state-wide organization. The conference was opened by Baldock who stressed the need of cooperation and hard work in making the Oregon highway de partment one of the outstand ing in the United States. Panel discussions followed throughout the day. Participating in the panel dis cussions were W. C. Williams, W. W. Stiffler and Glenn S. Pax son, assistant state highway en gineers, and heads of the various highway department divisions. Wilson Dies Following fteart Attack Joseph Edward Wilson, 41, of 3725 McCain Ave., died unex pectedly at his home Thursday morning following a heart at tack. He was a cement worker with Drake Construction Co. A resident i Salem for the past 14 years, Wilson was born in Essex, Mo., Aug. 27, 1912. He was married to Thelma Shields in 1930 at Atwood, Kan. She sur vives him. Other survivors include three daughters, Mrs. D. E. Huiett, Mrs. B. D. Corbett and Darlene Wilson, all of Salem; two sons, Pat and Verne Wilson, both of Salem; Sister Mrs. R. P. McGinley, Nor walk, Calif.; father and step mother, Mr. and Mrs. R. J. Wil son, Rickreall; and three grand children. Funeral services will be held Monday at 1 p. m. in Howell-Edwards Chapel with interment at City View Cemetery. State Awards Gas Contract Tidewater Associated Oil Com pany was awarded a contract Thursday to sell more than a mil lion dollars worth of gasoline to the state of Ore eon Hurin? 1054 The prices, about the same as those for this year, are: Bulk regular gasoline, 20.14 cents a gallon; bulk ethyl gaso line, 22.34 cents; service station regular gasoline, 26.1 cents; serv ice station ethyl gasoline, 28 cents.
