Visited By Officer Mrs. 'Clarence Grand, Dallas, District 2 President of the Ameri can Legion Auxiliary was enter tained at the social meeting of Capital Unit 9 at the Salem Woman's Clubhouse Monday eve ning. , Mrs. Grund talked to the group about suggestions which were made at the recent President's and Secretaries' conference which was held in, Portland. She men tioned the advisability of ap pointing - a ' nurse's scholarship chairman. Announcements included ' a meeting of the membership com mittee with Mrs. Lue A. Lucas, chairman, Friday evening at 8 o'clock. Mrs. Lucas requests all captains and their assistants to be present She reported an en rollment of members numbering 175 to date. Mrs. Rose Habernacht, sewing chairman, announced a meeting of the sewing committee at the home of Mrs. Clara Poland, 529 S. 23rd St on Thursday. The unit voted to send Mr. James G a r s o n. Rehabilitation chairman, and Mrs. Earl Andre sen to the Area E Rehabilita tion and Child Welfare confer ence which will be held in Port land November 3 to 7. v ' The Unit will join with Capital Post in a Halloween party at the American Legion Hall on Oct 30. Unit Meeting Friday The Lincoln- Spring Valley Home Extension Unit will hold its first fall meeting Friday, Oct. 23 at the Spring Valley School at 10:30 a.m. A covered dish luncheon will be served at noon. The subject to be presented by the Polk County Extension Agent, Mrs. Malno Reichert, will be Fam ily Business and the Law, which will cover wills, deeds, mortgages and transfer of title to property. There will be a special follow-up meeting in November which the agent and a lawyer, which the entire family may attend. All in terested persons are Invited to attend the meeting.
