Saturday Eve PORTLAND tft State and City teams held their final intensive workouts Thursday for the 6th Oregon Shrine All Star football game at Multnomah Stadium Sat urday night Those who have witched the quads continued .to foresee the record for the annual contest The highest scoring game te date was last year when State defeated City, 20-12. : Both 1953 teams have high touch down potentials good passers and receivers and backs with lots of speed in the open field; In addition a 6-2-2-1 defense will the first time since the; game be tween the graduated high school stars was inaugurated. This should make concentrated goal line de fenses harder. In "past years the 6-2-2-1 setup has been compulsory only between the 10-yard lines. The City team worked out in the Stadium Thursday night to get used to the lights! and the field. The Staters will do the same Friday night No other drills are scheduled for Friday, Pete Susick. Marshffeld High, coach of the State squad, was non commital about the possible out come. He said only that: his play ers "have been looking a lot bet ter the past few days." Harry S c a r f f. City coach, wouldn't predict the outcome but said he believed his squad "is one of the best balanced' City teams I have ever seen." He added that it has good speed, adequate size and wonderful spirit. PedersonMix Johnny Henning, the wartime Navy "Frog Man" and Erie (The Arrogant) Pederson, the two mat gladiators who produced one of the wildest brawls in Armory his tory Tuesday night in the special event prior to the Frank Stojack Jack O'Riley malner, will be the main eventers next Tuesday night.
