held at the Monmouth' Christian
church on Sunday afternoon. As
sisting were oldtime friends and
members of the congregation. A

Eva E. Yount was bon August
21 at Willow Hill. Illinois and
Robert Everett King wasl born at
Newton, Illinois, February 22,
1883. They were married at Wil
low HilL Aug4 IS, 1903, and lived
in that community until j coming
to Oregon inlfilZ For 18 years
they Jived af Zebanon and lor
the next 16 years, lired 1st Carl
ton.. They bought at home in In
dependence and have made this
area their home in recent years.
Mr. King has followed farming
and logging most of his lifetime
and st present is actively engag
ed as a logging contractor operat
ing at Glide in Southern Oregon.
Mrs. King formerly was an ob
stetrical nurse and doctor's as
sistant She says her hobby has
been1 her own family of eight
children, 18 grandchildren and 6
great-grandchildren; All of the
children were present for the
' golden wedding i anniversary:
Ralph and Bob King, Independ
ence; Roland King; Mrs. Cecil
Hauzwell, Mrs. Bluford Osburn
and Mrs. Verca ! Stilt, all of Leb
anon; Mrs. i ciinora b&eeis,
Springfield; and Mrs. Verl Skeels,
Winchester.
Mrs. Clora towards. Spring-
field, is a lifetime i friend and
schoolmate of Mrs. King and was
here to assist with the anniver
sary; also Mrs. Bartin Hinz and
Mrs. ' Earl Shackmann. both of
Lebanon, longtime neighbors and
friends. -

At YWCA Camp
Among the many activities at
YWCA Camp Silver Creek for
Junior high girls this week were
two organized trips on Wednes
day. A trip to Taylors Grove and 1
a four mile hike around Silver
Creek Falls was led by Denis
Lavender. Mr. Lavender will also
conduct a star gazing program at I
evening campure.
A birthday skit entitled "Sweet
Sixteen" will be presented by the
girls of Bear Creek unit in honor
of one of the junior counselors.
Miss Shirley Blush. Those par
ticipating are Janet Davenport,

Bosell. Kav Nickels. T.nuit-
rowell and Barbara Morris.

tivities taught by the councelors
are crafts by Lois Van Allen,
horseback riding under the direc
tion of Barbara Bostrack, trampo
line instructed by Ann Butler,

Marie Corner.
In addition to the all-camp pro
gram, each unit is planning a
cookout Camp Silver Creek has i
invited Camp, Smith Creek to a
campfire meeting, where, skits
will be presented by each group.
