Music Classes Still are Open Boys and girls wishing to join the, music classes for the summer are being assured that they can sign ; up at any time and play as much as they wish, by Victor Palmason, directing the classes. There are to be daily classes. meeting at 9 in the high school band room, at Leslie Junior High school at 10:45 and West Salem Junior High school at 1 p. m. Junior High school classes are scheduled for Mondays at 7:15 and will include all 7th and 8th graders and this year's 6th grad ers. Senior high band includes this year's 9th graders from junior high schools. The latter band meets Monday nights at 8:15 o'clock. Both meet in band room of the Salem High school. This program is designed to keep young musicians working with their instruments through out the summer, and takes into consideration the fact that vaca tions and trips may interfere with attendance during the en tire summer. Board Meeting And Luncheon A luncheon and board meeting at the Marion Hotel on Saturday, June 27 is scheduled for the De partment of Oregon, American Gold Star Mothers. Presiding will be the department president, Mrs. Carl GuiyL Following the 12 o'clock lunch eon a business session will be held. Plans will be completed for the department convention to be held in Medford September 11 and 12. A report will also be giv en on the national convention to be held in Chicago. Nuptials at Saturday MT. ANGEL The wedding of Miss Bertha Ann Hassing, daugh ter of Mrs. A. B. Hassing of ML AngeL and Robert A. Heisler, son of Mr. and Mrs. Claude Heisler 4of Gervais, , was solemnized in a setting of caHa lilies and , white peonies In St Mary's Catholic Church on Saturday morning. June 20 at 9 o'clock. The Rey. Father Cyril Lebold. OSB, officiated at the nuptial high mass. Altar boys were Lloyd Hassing, the bride's nephew. Bob Hockett, and Joe and John SchaU- berger. Before the ceremony Miss Eus telle Bauman sang. Miss Hel en Keber was organist and St. Mary's choir sang the mass and also during the reception. Tne bride was given In mar riage by her brother, Oswald J. Hassing. She wore her sister's wedding. gown of white slipper satin, simply fashioned with a plain bodice, long pointed sleeves and a full train. Her veil of illu sion, edged with wide lace, cas caded from a cap of matching lace. She carried a lavender or chid on a white prayer book from which fell white satin streamers knotted with stephanotis. Her only ornament was a gold cross and chain, a gift of the bride groom. Miss Angela Zach was maid of honor and Miss Mildred Heisler was bridesmaid. They wore iden tical dresses of yellow afeta with pleated yoke collars and flounced skirts gathered into bows and a slight train in back. Each wore a daisy wreath in her hair and a pale orchid ribbon around the neck, caught close at the throat with a single daisy. They carried nosegays of spring flowers. Mrs. Hassing chose a navy blue redingote over a . flowered silk dress and navy accessories for her daughter's wedding and the bridegroom's mother selected a navy blue dress with matching ac cessories. Each wore a corsage of white and cream Siberian iris with baby roses, the flowers from Mrs. Hassing's garden, ' Attend the Groom Serving as best man was Don ald Nusom. Ushers were Donald McNulty, Felix Hassing, brother of the bride, and Donald Jessup. At the reception in the school dining hall, Mrs. Douglas Hil dreth, sister of the groom, cut the three-tiered, cross-shaped cake. Pouring was Mrs. Felix Hass ing, sister-in-law of the bride, and assisting were the Misses Annelia Bauman. Monica Duda, Olive Duda, Patricia Hackett, Marlene DiehL Dolores Hockett and Eu nice Geek. Mrs. Vincent Beyer and Miss Rita Aicher helped with the gifts. The bride's nieces. Arlene and Judy Hassing, passed the guest book. Mr. and Mrs. Heisler will be at home in Albany, following a wedding trip through western Canada. For traveling the bride chose a lavender-blue suit with a matching poodle-cloth box jakcet and white accessories. Mrs. Heisler was graduated from Mt Angel Women's College and taught grammar school in Sublimity and St PauL Mr. Heis ler served one year with the armed forces in Europe after graduating from Gervais High School and then spent another four years with the occupation forces in Japan before returning to the states to attend Mohler Barber College in Portland. He is presently employed in Albany. Golden Wedding At Ed Harringtons WILLAMINA Mr. and Mrs. Ed Harrington celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Sun day, June 7, with a reception for 50 friends and relatives at the Emmanuel Lutheran church. Mrs. Reuben Johnson, a daugh ter, cut the cake. Mrs. Otto Hirn presided at the coffee urn, Mrs. Arthur Banyard poured the. punch, Mrs. Joseph Sauer served the ice cream, Mrs. George Mur phy had charge of the guest book, and Miss Sharon Werth, a grand daughter, and Miss Miriam Hirn had charge of gifts. The groom is a graduate of Multnomah College! and is now doing TV work. He served four years in the navy. The couple will live in Pasa dena. The , general meeting of the WSCS of the First Methodist Church for June has been post poned due to the busy schedule during conference week. The next meeting is slated for July 15. They had two children, one. of whom passed away in infancy Engagement Of Couple Revealed From Portland comes news of the engagement of Miss Thelma Rogoway, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Morris Rogoway of Portland, and Sanford C. Williams, son of Mr. and Mrs. Max Williams of Salem. No date has been set for the wedding. The announcement was first made known at a dinner, party on June 14 at the Multnomah Hotel for which Mr. and Mrs. Rogoway were hosts in compliment to the engaged duo and members of the two families. y Miss Rogoway will enter the University of Washington this falL Her fiance, a Salem High School graduate, will be a senior at the University of Washington next year, where he is a pre medics student He is a member of Sigma Alpha Mu fraternity. Mr. Williams is currently at Fort Lee, Va., taking his ROTC train ing. He will return in mid-August. Class Reunion At Judson's The class of 1896 of the East Salem School held its annual re union on Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Judson. This was the 14th reunion for the ori-1 ginal class of 42 members, which now numbers 21. Thirteen mem bers were present for the dinner and; celebration.
