Punch served from a smaller table ... Sentimental note ... A large contingent fcf the bride's Pi Beta Phi sorority sisters from Oregon State singing the Pi Phi Sweet heart song during the reception . . . Shirlee's bouquet of white roses tied with the ribbon which was used-on her 'mother's bou quet at her wedding . . . Cole, secretary;, and Mrs. Leo Weddle, treasurer. i v i Miss McNeil, Jdmes Houck Wed Sun iday Blue and white summer flowers decorated the Calvary Baptist Church Sunday afternoon for the wedding of Miss Shirley Colleen McNeil, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Cecil L. McNeil, and James Earl Houck, son of Mr. and Mrs. Roy L. Houck. The 3 o'clock nuptials were performed by the Rev. Wil liam Portia, cousin of the groom. Henry Fox was the soloist and William Fawk the organist Of white slipper satin "was the bridal gown fashioned with a fitted bodice enhanced with Chan tilly lace insertion and a Peter Pan collar of the lace. The full skirt, which ended in a short train, was designed with an over skirt of net with lace panel down the front end extending from the sides around in back were ruffles of the laced, edge in white satin. She wore lace mitts and a lace cap with seed pearl rosettes on the sides held in place her finger tip veil of tulle trimmed in lace. She carried a semi-crescent bou quetof white stephanotis and gold throated white orchid. I A quintet of attendants walked before the bride all wearing blue organdy frocks embossed with white flowers tied with white sashes. They wore white shoes, delphinium headbands and car ried bouquets of delphinium and daisies. Miss Marilyn Blakley, the honor maid, wore mist blue and the attendants in a deeper share of blue included Mrs. Robert Seamster, Mrs. Leonard Milli gan, Miss Mary Sundet and Miss Bernice DaMoude. Cecilia Mc Neil was her sister's flower girL Brother Is Best Man ! Roy L. Houck Jr. was his broth er's best man and ushers were Leonard Milligan, Frederick Sproule, Bill Bouffler and James Norton. i Mrs. McNeil wore a floor length pink nylon gown with pleated skirt and black accessories for her daughter's nuptials. Mrs. Houck chose a waltz length black nylon gown with overskirt and bodice of blue lace and blue ac cessaries for the wedding. Their corsages were lavender orchids. i A reception was held in the church parlors. Pouring were Mrs. O. W. Gorton and Mrs. Kin ley K. Adams. The groom's aunts, Mrs. J. E. Houck of Perrydale and Mrs. C. E. Corey of Medford, cut the cake. Assisting were Mrs. Steven Benson, Mrs. Marion Ven nice, Misses Eunice Peckenpaugh, Norma Harrington, Willma Wil lich and Betty Williams. ! After a wedding trip to Cali fornia the couple will be at home in Hubbard for the summer. Times :.:.. -r ' Where Yoo Fmd the Priendliest Stores In Towsi Miss Shirlee Newbry Weds William Bissell Sunday At Church Ceremony' v Memorable for its beauty was the wedding oa Sunday afternoon which united in marriage Miss Shirlee Joan Newbry, only daughter of Secretary, of State and Mrs. Earl .Thomas Newbry, and William Edward Bissell, son of Mr. and Mrs. Homer Bissell of Ashland. The ceremony took place at the First Congregational Church at 3 o'clock with Dr. E-i W. Warrington of Corvallis officiating before a large gathering of relatives and friends of the two families, many coming from out-of-town. A blue and white color scheme was carried out in the gowns of the attendants and the floral decorations; The altar was banked with the bouquets of white glad ioluses and blue delphinium flanked by white tapers. Malcolm Campbell of- Portland was the soloist and Prof. Maurice Brennen the organist. Miss Joan and Miss Suzanne Barnes, wearing white lace over blue taffeta frocks, lighted the tapers before the bridal party entered. The tall, pretty bride entered on the arm of her father, who gave her in marriage. Her ex quisite bridal gown was of tulle and lace over white satin, fash ioned with Chaptilly lace bodice encrusted with seed pearls and irridescent sequins. The full skirt. which terminated in a train, was of tulle and the bodice extended into a peplum of the lace. Her illusion fingertip veil cascaded from a lace and satin bonnet She carried a swing style bouquet of white roses. Precede the Bride Five attractive attendants pre ceded the bride to the altar. Miss Shirley Damon of Ashland was the honor maid and wore a blue lace gown over blue taffeta and carried a swing bouquet of deep blue delphinium. The brides ma ids Miss Nancee Bissell. of Ashland, sister of the groom, Miss Marjorie Williams of Med ford, cousin of the bride, Miss Ann Williams of Coos Bay and Miss Margaret Warner of Ash land, all wore white lace dresses over blue taffeta and carried swing bouquets of light blue del phinium. Carol Ann Shupe of Eugene, the flower girl, wore pastel blue organdy and Ronald Newbry, nephew of the bride, was the ring bearer. Louis Langer of Bend stood with Mr. Bissell as best man. Seating the guests were Lyndel Newbry of Ashland, brother of the bride, Fred Lincoln and James Garrett of Portland, and Robert Stewart of Turner. A mauve lace gown over silk organza was chosen by the bride's mother for her daughter's nup tials. She wore pastel blue ac cessories and corsage of Elf ros es ajid stephanotis. Mrs. Bissell attended her son's marriage ,in a teal blue chiffon gown with pink accessories and her corsage was of roses and stephanotis. e Reception at Newbry Home The newlyweds greeted their guests at a reception in the gar den at the home of the bride's parents on East Rural Avenue. E. M. Syring played organ music throughout the reception. Presiding at the coffee urns were Mrs. L. G. Frink of Med Oregon State College. For travel ing the new Mrs. Houck wore a powder blue dress with poodle box jacket to match, white hat and accessories. - ") ford, Mrs. R. L. Burdic of Ash land, Mrs. L. L. Jesnen and Mrs. H. A. The newlyweds left for South ern California on their wedding trip- and for traveling the new Mrs. Bissell changed to a white suit with navy blue accessories and corsage of red roses. The cou ple will be at home at Turner, where Mr. Bissell is on the faculty of the Cascade Union High School. ; v Convention to Attract Many To Seaside The Department of Oregon American Legion Auxiliary con vention will be held in Seaside this week. Today the Eight ic Forty, honor organization of the American' Legion Auxiliary, will hold its session in the Gearhart Hotel On Wednesday there will be a joint memorial service of the American' Legion and Auxiliary in the Broadway School at 9 a. m. a joint opening session at :30 p. m., and a reception and ban quet held at the Hotel Gearhart honoring Governor and Mrs. Paul Patterson, each being a past com mander and past president of the Legion and Auxiliary. Thursday the Auxiliary will holds its meeting in the Central School in Seaside with Mrs. Ro bert Kreason of Dallas, presiding. The parade will begin at 7 p. m. Friday at 7:30 a. m. will be the Secretary and Truesurer break fast in the Seaside Hotel At 7:30 p. m. there will be a mass initia tion by the American Legion in the City Park followed by the Drum and Bugles Corps contest Saturday at 7:30 a. m. will be the district president's breakfast in the Methodist Church. Adams, and Karl Diedrich Schmidt son of Mr. and Mrs. Karl D. Schmidt of Hood River, on Sunday afternoon. It was at 4 o'clock that the couple : exchanged their vows at the Leslie Methodist Church with the Rev. G. Wesley Turner of Lebanon, former pastor of the church, officiating. The tall, brunette bride wore a white taffeta gown with net over- skirt enhanced with panels of Chantilly lace, which ended in a slight sweep train. The matching lace bodice was fashioned with long sleeves and a Peter Pan col lar. Her bouquet was of white carna tions combined with net The Bridal Party Miss Janice Adams was her sister's honor maid and brides maids were Miss Joyce Taylor, Miss Arlene Deakins and Miss Norvada Smedley. They all wore pink taffeta -ballerina dresses with net overskirts and scoop necklines.
