4A-5a 2) Statman, ScJm, Ow, Y7kL, May HS3 Chrysler, QO Negotiations in Deadlock DETROIT i Chrysler Corp and the CIO United Auto 'Workers gave up their efforts to agree on changes in their five-year contract early Wednesday. Their negotiations, which ran for nine hours, were recessed just 24 hours after Ford and the UAW came to terms on new and im proved wage and pension clauses in their pact. "Another session with Chrysler was set for 3 p. m. Wednesday. The only comment from Chrys ler and UAW representatives was that their talks were "progressing satisfactorily. Irftrvsler President L. L. (Tex) Colbert personally took charge of the company bargaining team. UAW and CIO President Walter P; Reuther, who was in on the Ford settlement, also led the un ion's new bargaining talks. Ford gave its 135.000 production workters tne pieage oi 9137.au m month maximum pensions, includ ing social security. Previously it Wps 1125. The comnanv. as did General Motors last week, adjusted chief elements of its five-year cost-of-living contract with the CIO United Aoto Workers. It was felt inevitable that all contracts in the industry would be revamped as a result. This would mean that the na tion's total of 1.000.000 or more auto plant employes would be af fected.
