Correspondent CORVALUS OSC students have suddenly become aware of the fact that only two more weeks of classes remain in the term. It's time to plan for all those last minute "essential activities" of spring term and to start wonder ins about the summer months. Snould it be a vacation trip, a summer job, or just three months of plain old loafing? Or maybe its plans for walking down the aisle? Two Salem girls, Pat Healy and Marsaret Miller, already have their summer schedule filled out. It's a trip to Hawaii to attend summer school at the University of Hawaii in Honolulu. They will leave June 21 on the Pan Ameri can airlines, accompanied by Mrs. MendenhalL the Delta Gamma housemother on the campus. House dances seem to be the ticket for this weekend. The pledges of Gamma Phi Beta are presenting "Garden Party" for their members. The function will take place at the chapter house, with dressy cottons as the appro priate attire. The women of Delta Delta are presenting "Coral King dom," a formal ball in honor of their graduating seniors, includ ing Margaret Acton of Salem. Colored fish, nets, and coral will carry out the theme at the chapt- 'cr house, with dancing on the patio also if the weather permits. The men of Phi Sigma Kappa will decorate their houses entire- ly with fresh flowers for their an nual spring formal. A senior ban quet will be given previous to the dance, and the girls will all re ceive orchid' leis. Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity is having its annual "Fireman's BalL" En trance to the house can be gain ed only by use of the high slide put up to the second floor win dows. Appropriate attire can be considered as almost anything at this hilarious costume dance. Shirley Newbry and Lorraine Welling will be honored along with their senior sisters by the members of Pi Beta Phi at their annual "Aloha" formal balL The decorations, arranged by the freshmen, will be kept secret un til the dance. From the Kappa Kappa Gamma house recent news of the engage ment of Virginia Potter to Bill Rock of Salem. Not too long ago, one of Virginia's sorority sisters, Leslyn Burdette, announc ed her forthcoming marriage to Bill's brother, Jim Rock. There's nothing like keeping it in the family. Capital Unit In Session Harriet Aller, a Willamette University student and member of American Legion Auxiliary in Yakima, gave a group of whis tling numbers at the meeting of Capital Unit, American Legion Auxiliary Monday night Nancy Hanson of Ketchikan, Alaska Was the accompanist,' also a Willam ette student Mrs. Malcolm Cameron, memor ial chairman, reported on the Memorial service to be held Sun day, May 24 at' the First Presby terian Church in honor of veter ans who have died the past year. The unit voted $25 for the an nual Salem High School history award. A plaque will be made to be put on the unit's traveling flag, given each year for the flag code contest Garfield School was winner of the flag this year. Election of officers and de'e gates to the state convention will highlight the June 1 business meeting. Club at Zahara Home HAYESVILLE The Hayesville Woman's Club will hold its last meeting of the season at the home of Mrs. Ed Zahara, 2665 Blossom Drive, Thursday, May 21. The meeting will open with a noon luncheon with Mrs. C. A. Gale and Mrs. Matt Lentsch as sisting the hostess. Those attend ing are asked to bring a covered dish and their own table service. New officers installed will be president Mrs. Harold Nation; vice president Mrs, Charles Gar- rison: secretary-treasurer, Mrs. I Ben Reimann. Dr. Pinson Elected Tr Rav Pinson is the newly elected president of the Garfield Mothers and Dads. Other ouicers to serve with Dr. Pinson for the ensuing year are Rtloh Nohlgren, vice-president; Mrs. Richard Lan kovr, secretary; and Mrs. I. A. De France, treasurer. Lee Ohmart has served as president the past year.
