BACK HURT MONDAY ' Herbert Wolf, 48, of 2295 Broad way and an employe of the Ore gon Pulp and Paper Mill, was taken to Salem General Hospital by city ambulance service. He told hospital authorities he had sus tained a back injury about one year ago and apparently was suf fering a recurrence of the same injury. He was reported to be in "good" condition Monday night. March 2i, 1S33-V Indians Ask Patterson to ; Help Halt Dam ' The Dalles dam across the Co lumbia - River, now under con struction, is a federal project and not one in which either the states of Washington or Oregon has any control. Gov. Paul Patterson told two Indian chiefs 'who appeared Monday in hope of soliciting aid In, halting the construction. . The chiefs were Watson Totus and Wilson Charley, both from the Yamkina tribe. They said construction of the dam at The Dalles would flood the Celilo Falls area to a depth of 40 feet and was in violation of a treaty executed between the Northwest Indians and the federal- govern ment in 1855. Charley said that the dam construction in addition to destroying the beauty of the Celilo Falls area, would deprive a large .number of Indians of their fishing- rights.
