Edward D. How ard, archbishop of Portland.. He also will lead the solemn ponti fical mass, assisted by several other priests of the Salem area.. Erection of the concrete, brick veneered structure at Winter and Chemeketa Streets began a year ago this month. It is just east of the frame church which has serv ed the parish since 1889. It will be razed to make way for a new rectory.' Following the rites at the church will be a 1 pjn. luncheon at the Marion Hotel for the clergy and a number of guests including state and city officials. Valley Obituary Kese McFarlane V SILVERTON Funeral services for Mrs. Rose McFarlane, 83, will be held in Silverton Thursday at 2 pjn. in the Eckxnan Funeral Home with interment at Valley view cemetery. - "Mrs. McFarlane was born' in! Centralia, Mo, Aug. 1, 1869. She died Monday in an Oregon City hospital. . Survivors Include daughters, Mrs. LOlie Johnson, Milwaukee, and Mrs. Sally , Tokstad, Canby; sons, Claude Burks, McMinnville. and Dewey Burks, Paul, Ida.; eight grandchildren and eight great- grandenudren. Louis G. Stelnberger SILVERTON Funeral serv ices will be held Saturday at 9:30 am. in St Paul's Catholic Church for Louis G. Steinberger, 45, who died Wednesday morning in the Good Samaritan Hospital, Port' land. - i Interment will be at St. Paul's Cemetery, Silverton. - Steinberger was born Sept. 6, 1907, in North Dakota and came to Silverton many years ago. Survivors include the widow. Norma Steinberger, and six chil dren, Myrna, Arlyn, Dianne, De lores, James and Sheryl Stein berger, all at home; six brothers, Henry, Lawrence and Leonard Steinberger, all of Donnybrook, N. v.; Frank Steinberger, Leban on; Arthur Steinberger, Silverton, and Bernard Steinberger. Han- nan, 62, died In a Silverton hospi tal Wednesday following an ex tended illness. He was born Jan. 2, 1891, at saiubrla, Ida., and has lived in Silverton for the past 30 years.
