Treatment Changes Noticed
Li Silverton Hospital Review
SILVERTON Ten years ago lor a simple appendectomy a patient
was in the hospital from 10 to 14 days compared to the three to five
days now, Miss Ruth Barber, superintendent of the Silverton General
Hospital said Sunday as she gave a report of the past year's local
hospital work and improvement, and spoke of the changes In hospi

since that time, and the plant
with its many modern improve
ments is valued at $200,000, al
though it could not by any means,
be rebuilt for that now. Miss
Barber said.
Other recent improvements in
clude the X-rays under a group
of radiologists, the laboratory
under the direction of a patholo
gist from the Oregon Medical
school, a registered anaesthetist, a
new laundry.
During the past year there were
S90 babies born at the hospital
compared to the 160 in 1942, and
the 342 in 1951. A total of 1,632
patients were admitted, an in-1
