February 3. The young coloratura scored her first triumph when her. voice, in competition with 10,000 other young musicians, was awarded ti tle of "Best Undiscovered Voice of America" in a nationwide contest,-She appeared in New York in a series of radio programs. Since then she has attained stardom in radio and concert. Her debut in radio opera came in 1948 in a nation-wide broadcast in the role of Gilda in "Rigoletto." Oth ers in the cast were Metropolitan stars, Jan Peerce, Robert Weede. She appeared later with Dr. Frank Black and the NBC orchestra and with Sylvan Levin in operatic presentations on NBC Miss Rogndahl is a native Ore- Jonian, receiving her education in 'ortland and at University of Oregon where she graduated with a degree in music She was a pu pil of Sigurd Nilssen. Miss Rogndahl is said to have a voice of exceptional range, and sings with rare grace and charm which has prompted critics to de clare her one of the great young . singers of America. A blue-eyed blonde, she has a charming per sonality and carries herself with the dignity- of her Viking ances tors. , Miss Rogndahl will sing with the orchestra also In Portland and Eugene. . It will be Friday, Febru ary 13. in the school auditorium. The play is under the direction of Miss Margaret Burroughs, ad viser of Snikpoh and a member of! the faculty. The plot Is centered around the maid, Abby, who had given ret uge to an unrecognizedv but great artist, Christopher Bean, before his death. The members of the Haggett family soon became; aware of the few valuable can vases which they once had. but! have since been misplaced. In their scramble for wealth, part of the family becomes greedy mod ill-tempered. Abby, holds, everyone In her power as she has the greatest of, Christopher Bean's paintings tnf her possession.
