Dorcas Society Host To Choir Members Statesman News Service SILVERTON Trinity Lutheran Choir members were guests of Dorcas Society Wednesday evening it a Christmas dinner. In charge of serving were Mrs. L. A. Meyer, Mrs. James Phillips, Mrs. Melvin Brenden, Miss Irene Moseng and Mrs. Harold Toft. Mrs. Alfred Menter, Dorcas So ciety president, expressed appre ciation to the choir, with Mrs. Donald Burch, choir director, also speaking briefly. Statesman New Servlc MONMOUTH Dr. Roben J. Itlaaske. president of Oregon Col lege of Education, and Mrs. Maaske left Tuesday evening for an assignment in Turkey from which he will return April 1. He was granted a leave of ab sence recently by the State Board of Higher Education to make a general survey of elementary and secondary teacher education in Turkey, as requested by the Tur kish Ministry of Education through the Department of State. Dr. Maaske will headquarter in An kara, capitol cf Turkey, and will lecture and conduct seminars at the Gazi Teacher Training College there. During Maaske's leave, the ad ministrative committee composed of R. E. Lieuallen, Ellis A. Steb bins and Dr. Floyd B. Albin will serve, according to announcement by Maaske. Lieuallen, as chairman of the administrative committee, will at tend to the presiden't office cor respondence, attend board meet ings and carry on other official assignments. JeffeTson Rebekahs Tuesday night a Christmas party was plan ned for Saturday night. Attending will be members of I OOF and Re bekah lodges and Theta Rho girls and families. A covered dish din ner will be served at 6:30, follow ed by a Christmas tree and Santa Claus. At a special meeting Tuesday night, members of Three Links Club decided to postpone their regular meeting scheduled for Dec. 13. holdin it on Tuesday. Dec. SO instead when a 1 pjn. covered dish luncheon will b served in the IOOF Hall. Lodge 58, Woodburn, will be host to the annual district convention of the lodge on Feb. 14. Special convention guest will be Mrs. Olive Ramey of Hills boro, state presi dent, who will make her official visit at that time. A Christmas party for Rebekahs and Oddfellows and their fa ml lies will be held Friday night. A program by children of members will be directed by Mrs. Myrtle HalL There will be a tree and gift exchange, also. Mrs. H. A. Lohse, district dep uty president, reports that new officers will be installed on Jan. 6. At Tuesday night's meeting Mrs. J. B. Gay, retiring noble grand, thanked other officers for coopera tion and presented a gift to each. Entertainment was provided by Mrs. Guy Engle and 16 members in a skit portraying an old-fashioned Christmas program. Refresh ments were served by Mrs. Char les Dean, Mrs. Edward DeHaan, Mrs. C. H.
