OF Britain threw its support Thurs day to an Indian plan designed to solve the prisoner of war issue in Korea. The United States also believes the plan is basically satisfac tory, informed source? said, but may insist upon certain changes. ' Britain , made Jcrurwn her approval with some questions when Anthony Eden, foreign secretary, spoke soon after he conferred with : j l a 9 t. a ' I Both . the United States and French -delegations were reported to agree with Eden's stand, but officially the USP delegation merely called the British declara tion "constructive." Russian bloc sources said it was "too early" to react. Eden spoke for 12 minutes to the U.N. Political Committee. He brought into the open Britain's po sitionwhich had been stated in several meetings of ' a subcom mittee of Western delegations studying Korean resolutions. He did not refer to or comment on the talk With Eisenhower. Objections Said Solved There had been reports that the United States had insisted in pri vate talks with Western delega tions on having the Indian resolu tion spell out in detail provisions , tor repatriation of prisoners of war lad eventual disposition of those Itill in camps 90 days after an Irmistice. . ' ' Apparently these difficulties were solved for, after Eden's Ipeech, informed, sources said the J.S. position was" almost Identical ivith that of Britain. Eden, speaking slowly and with great emphasis, said the Indian resolution, presented by V. K. , Krishna Menon, should not be viewed too legalistically. "This resolution is, in my view, l timely and constructive attempt to resolve his deadlock," Eden ca dv i anmunjom has been slow but it represents a remarkable achievement. ; -"All but one issue (that of pris oners) had been settled. ' Mean while the casualties arc mounting steadily. i Freaeh Also Support "We have been right In insist ing on principles but we should not view this document as some thing exact. Let us view it rather for what it might achieve. Does it bring us nearer agreement on the outstanding issues? I think it does, i era v this committee win agree on it." ; A French spokesman said after Eden spoke that his government took the same view of the Mmnn resolution. It had been reoorted mat ranee would accept the In dian proposals with or without amendments, l Keizer Club ' Holds Dinner, 75 Present Itateoua Xnrs Scrrteo KEIZER The Keizer RsHm Club'sannual familv turkev rinn was held Tuesday night .with 75 present.
